I'm sorry... someone else mentioned it, and I was not sure if it was included somehow in thriller.

I like the fantasy-romance trashy novels. I read Anita Blake mostly (It started out with nice plot, now Hamilton has turned it into popcorn novels with a bit of plot to follow, and, it has were animals and vampires, wee!)

Also, wolf-tales is a favorite of mine. I love were animal stuff. I think that makes me a little strange, but whatever.

On the other hand, I'll read just about any trashy romance novel someone gives me.

And, I have a collection of fantasy/sci fi stuff too.

I picked the ones I most often read, but I've been known to read a little bit of everyting! I'll give anything a chance. I also tend to go in waves with one type of book for a while or one author, then I'll switch to another for a while.

I can see how it can be mixed. I've seen them mixed and matched and kept separate and the like. Ah well I picked other.

I love Anne Rice, but mostly her non vampire stuff. Cry to Heaven and Violin are two of the best books I"ve ever read.

Golly I fit right in here! I have been an Anne MCcaffrey fan since I was a sophmore in HighSchool. I've read everything she has ever written and constantly troll for more...her Son is shaping up to be as excellent as his mother! I am a science fiction geek I read everything from Tolkien to Terry Pratchett and back again. Right now I am stuck on Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series good stuff, good stuff!

I always take recommendations from people. I have a book list that I like to keep under a page. I should probably be reading right now...

I'm not a huge fan of reading, but when I do I like the romance and humor ones. And of course the erotica!

Yeah, I read just about everything. My hallway filled with bookcases can attest to that. Unfortunately, a lot of it is textbooks.

I love collecting books, too. Like first editions, and special versions, etc.

That's what I was going to say, Chili. I read almost EVERYTING. My fines at the library, I joke with the staff, should trigger a wing named after me. My Man gets mad because I spend so much at Amazon and Borders, he doesn't even see what I spend at our used book store, because they only take cash.

I LOVE to read. (In fact, I should be studying now. But, my f*cking car broke down, (and now I have to pay for the fix AND a rental car) and I am stressed out of my mind and I wanted to talk to my EF friends to help me calm down.

I'll read almost anything. I started off reading John Bellairs. My obsession with books really started the first time I picked up a book by Anne Rice. I wanted to read everything by her. Then I started reading Zane. I've read true crime novels like In Cold Blood. And most recently I'm exploring some of Ted Dekker's work along with Geneva Holliday.

I just finished reading a Zombie anthology book. The last story was told in Twitter form. Every entry was a tweet. It was pretty good actually!

The book was The New Dead

Lots of manga. Lots and lots--Mostly seinen (aimed at teen-adult men). Also, history non-fiction and fiction, books on various things people probably find pretty boring. And fairy tales, too!

My new favorite author is T.C Boyle. He takes historical figures, like Frank Lloyd Wright, Alfred Kinsey, the Kellogg Brothers and writes fiction around them from the point of view of someone who knows them.

Very good stuff. His short stories are good, too.

It's SO hard to find good fiction.

I really like Donna Tartt, as well. But, she has only published two books so far, and a few short stories. "The Little Friend" was fantastic. She's like Thomas Harris, it takes her a decade to write a book. Work more quickly, woman!

I read EVERYTHING! I'm right now in the middle of a book by one of my new favorite authors, T.C Boyle, Riven Rock. It's about a true historical figure, Stanley McCormick, the son of the millionaire Industrialist in the early 1900s. Stanley developed schizophrenia and "sexual depravity" and had to be locked away from women and society at large. Luckily, the family had millions, and he was put in a house originally built for his likewise psychotic sister in California. Riven Rock. He never consummated the marriage with his wife, but she stuck by him the entire time, evidently taking female lovers, so as not to "cheat" on him. T.C Boyle has also written books about other historic figures like Alfred Kinsey (for whom I have an odd fascination) Frank Lloyd Wright (I LOVE Wright's work, we have a lot of Wright houses near our home and I adore them) and others. I really like Boyle's writing.

I'm also reading Jenna Jamesons' autobiography How to Make Love Like a Porn Star it's a typical "I made all the wrong decisions and still got rich and famous." tales. I can't put the book down. It is actually well written. She has a co-author. I don't like the "interview style" chapters, but the rest of the book is good. She has a good sense of humor and has and an interesting life.

I'm also pursuing several graphic novels, about the characters originated by Will Eisner (including my namesake P'Gell) by a modern day graphic novel writers and artists. These collections aren't as good as the originals by Eisner, but they are worth reading.

I like to have more than one project going all at once.

I'm waiting for the new Stephen King novel to come out, and am about to start Pleasure Bound a collection of erotica by Alison Tyler.

I also LOVE King. We went to Boston and Maine, and had to make a trip to Bangor. My Man has a picture of me, in front of King's house, like a big dork. The whole time I'm going, "Hurry up, I don't want him to see me and think I'm a stalker." I was across the street and then at the END of the driveway. Some people arrived and just stood in front of the front gate (the one with the bats and spiders in cast iron all over the fence) and just stood there, trying to look in the windows.)

Julia, I'm like your mom. One and a half whole shelves in our home library are dedicated to King. Most of them First Edition hard backs. I really like the way he writes. I wish he would use more humor, though. He's funny guy and doesn't use it a lot. I didn't finish Under the Dome it started to drag, and it just sits next to my nightstand. Maybe I'll finish it someday. I couldn't finish The Stand, either. I tried reading it when I was studying for my IBCLC boards, years ago, and I couldn't pay attention to all the characters. Under the Dome is similar, a huge number of characters, like a Russian novel. I like his books with fewer characters. I think IT is my favorite and The Body which Stand By Me was based on was my favorite short story before it was a movie.

I love chick lit.. I'll admit it. Particularly British Authors.. couldn't tell you why, though. Sophie Kinsella and Jane Green are a couple of faves.

I also love mystery, suspense/thriller, and of course Harry Potter.

One of the best books I ever read was a Historical fiction book called Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. There was a sequel, but I never got a chance to read it. I certainly intend to, though. I think there's actually a mini-series on Showtime based on it now, but I haven't looked into it.

Oh, you should totally read "The Green Mile." You might just change your mind about Stephen King! He is very, very talented and writes well across different genres.

I haven't read the Sookie novels. I need to look those up. I looked them up once before after someone mentioned them to see what they were about, but have forgotten since then.

I absolutely love to read -- I always have, ever since I first learned how to even sound words out. I started reading the newspaper when I was seven years old. I frequently consulted the dictionary while reading through the newspaper and thus learned way too much about crime at a much-too-young age. I also loved to read through the dictionary and my parents' set of encyclopedias. They were old encyclopedias (from the 1950s), but they were wonderful!

My mom used to limit how many books she would let me bring home from the library. I would always carry out a stack so tall that I had to use my chin to stabilize them (with my arms extended as low as they could go so that I could even GET my chin on top of them -- and my chin usually had to be lifted pretty darn high!). My parents would actually have to pry me away from my library books to send me outside to play. Those are my favorite childhood memories of summer: just having the leisure to immerse myself in another world.

I love to dabble in all the genres. Everything is interesting. I've always loved how I could enter the minds of the characters (and, in essence, the author's). I loved how I could be swept away into another world and see that world through a new pair of eyes. I always finished each new book with new insight into SOMETHING (often many, many things).

My goal is to read all of the Pulitzer prize-winning novels and non-fiction, as many of the Classics as possible, and as many other books that have won various awards. Since we are so very blessed to have so many fantastic story-tellers out there, I at least want to read as many books as possible that have been lauded by the literary world.

Ahhh . . . There are simply too many wonderful, wonderful books and, alas, so very little time.

"In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote is perhaps the very best in that genre. I read it when I was a kid (and way too young to have any business reading it -- I somehow managed to slip it by my mom in one of my huge library book stacks!). I remember reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" that same summer, but had no idea that the authors of those two books were good friends since childhood! Ironic.
