Small school of 50 in my class. So we didn't really have cliques other than the jocks, cheerleaders, preps and stoners (this was 20 years ago too!). I was the guy that could find common ground with everyone. I was in all the advanced classes, took shop classes, knew the computers better than the computer teachers and tech specialists for the school, read voraciously, collected comic books, worked 2 jobs, was in the drama club, swing choir, football and basketball equipment manager and stats keeper, and played golf when we finally got it my senior year. I also was on the library board for the town and did some class officer and student council positions. I also was the go-to backrub guy and could sit and chat with the girls and read through their cosmo and redbooks and could actually discuss the articles from memory. I was also intensely shy and could never get up the nerve to ask out any of the girls I was attracted to until just before senior prom.

When I first started high school, I was a goth kid. Then I transformed into the art geek. I was usually in the theater, art rooms, or photo lab.

I was a nerd (still am) but I was also an outcast. It got to the point that only the mentally handicapped wanted to be my friend as i was jumped and beat up a lot in school by guys. (And I am female.) I was excluded from everything, my picture even removed from a lot of places in the yearbook.

While I did some traveling about in some groups, I was mostly a "nerd" you could say. Took mostly AP classes, played in orchestra, often sat around acting terribly arrogant with my friends while reading Nietzsche. All in all, I was a bit of a snotty, know it all. lol I grew out of that mostly in college, thankfully.

Lord! Reading these, I realize how many I actually fit in. I guess you could call me a popular punk-rock prep. I hung out with the rock kids & the preppy cheerleaders. I loved high school!

I was lucky enough to be able to hang out with pretty much any group. The only people I couldn't stand were phonies. I had friends who were jocks, gangsters/thugs, stoners/smokers, punks, mods (this was in the 90's, so nowadays they'd probably be considered "goth"), preppies, etc etc. I ended up being friends with people who hated me at first because they thought they had me pegged a certain way, but luckily I never let labels get in the way of getting to know someone!

I was in the goth kid group. After getting kicked out of school for no reason other than wearing too much black (which apparently meant I would blow up the school), I transferred to a school that was mostly goth kids. So that was nice.
