Yeah, me too. The only way I like to eat cake is if it's with fruit,(not jam, that's too sweet), maybe some type of custardy layer & whipped cream for icing. I don't like it very sweet and especially love when the tartness of the fruit comes through. I guess I only like the cake as a vehicle to eat the fruit & whipped cream. Surprisingly, I like carrot cake, but only with a tart cream cheese icing.

Unless it has the cream frosting, just the cake. Sugar frosting is way too sweet. The only frosting i enjoy is the drippy kind on Boston Cream Pie.

The cake. People usually make icing with WAY too much sugar, especially if it's store bought. I end up removing most of the icing anyway.

Sometimes I'll ask for the edge, but it depends on the icing and the flavor of cake. Some cakes are better with more and some with less. Like...carrot cake with more icing is always a plus, but the less I can get on a lemon cake, the better.

i dont really like cake because it is usually too sweet. oftentimes im scraping the icing off and eating the cake. id rather have pie or a pastry.

If i had it my way, i probably wouldn't ice cakes at all...if you cook a cake right and it's all moist and perfect then the icing ruins it for me!

Mainly the icing
I love the red velvet cupcakes I find at Wal*Mart in the refrigerated section of the bakery, other then that the only cake I eat is Publix with butter cream icing

My daughters fav is red velvet....and I have made more red velvet cake in the past two weeks than you can imagine....
