What's your Meyers-Briggs Type?

Contributor: Antipova Antipova
Here's a quick test, it took me ~7 minutes, if you're not sure: link

On another (very small!) forum I talk in, somebody remarked "All forums are for INT*'s and the people who can tolerate them." We checked, and it was true---all of us talking had the Meyers-Briggs / Jungian personality type of INT(something).

I wonder, though, since EF is a lot bigger, and since our focus is much more broad, is it the same? This hasn't been done as a poll before, which surprised me.

In the poll options, I'm putting the percentages of each type in the world at large, from here.

I think this has changed over the years as I have matured. also it depends on the site where you take the test. so I take this result (from the link) with a grain of salt)

I generally take these kinds of tests with a grain of salt also. However, now that I'm reading the Teacher description of my result, it may actually have some truth to it. That surprises me!

I've had several versions of the Meyers-Briggs Personality Indicator test and all of them are consistent of me being an INFJ.

Surprised the hell out of my ethics teacher (who administered the test to the class as an exercise in ethical perspectives) ... all this time she thought I was an extrovert instead of an introvert because I'm opinionated and let my mouth run in class. And I locked horns with the class' Pompous Ass a lot.

Thanks for replying, everyone who's posted so far! I'm glad to see that we're a little more diverse!

I take all personality tests with a grain of salt, but I like this one. It's been so consistent for me for so many years, and the description matches me, and more importantly, the descriptions of other types don't match very well. (Well, INFJ's matches a little---I'm a big-hearted INTJ or a very very logical INFJ), but the fact that there are actually differences between the types makes me find it a little more useful than a lot of tests.

On some tests I'm an INTJ, and on others I'm an ISTJ. so I voted both.

I took it once with my gut reactions and once with more thought. I got the same score both times.

I wouldn't call myself a "performer," as one explanation refers to my score, but it's fairly accurate all around.

Introversion / extroversion on the MBTI is more a matter of whether internal/external stimuli energize you rather than your outward social behavior.

Exactly. I had to explain it to her. A class of nine students will have me more personable than a class of thirty.

I have taken the Myers-Briggs test three times (the full, professionally administered test and not the shorter test that is available online for free---though I've taken that one as well!). I always test as an INFJ.

I am an extremely strong I (introverted) and a fairly strong N (iNtuitive), but I always test 50/50 between J (judging) and P (perceiving). The T (thinking) and F (feeling) are always pretty close as well, though not a perfectly even 50/50 score as I get between J and P. (I always come out with a few more points for the F, or feeling, dichotomy.)

As someone else explained above, introversion / extroversion is not necessarily what people tend to think it is but rather how one becomes "refreshed" or "energized" when they are stressed and need to relax. When extroverted people are stressed and need to relax, they find it relaxing / renewing / re-energizing to engage in socializing with a large group of people (such as going to a club, party, bar, meet-and-mingle event, etc.). When introverted people are stressed and need to relax, they find it relaxing to engage in more inward-focused activities, such as meditation, reading, or even engaging in an intimate conversation with someone with whom they can connect. Attending big social events can still be very enjoyable to an introverted person, but such functions can be emotionally draining to him/her, resulting in a need to unwind with some quiet time after the event. The extroverted person will leave such a function invigorated, though, and the thought of engaging in such "quiet" activities is not nearly as appealing to him/her as it is to the introverted person.

People who know me in the real world always think I'm an extrovert because I am very talkative, approachable, and friendly. I am not at all too shy to introduce myself and talk with people I don't know. It is a misnomer that an introvert is necessarily a standoffish, quiet, socially awkward individual.

There were quiet a few questions on the quiz that I just had to force myself to answer because I couldn't pick which one would be "correct" for me. Soooo I'm not sure how accurate I feel my answers were, let alone my result. But I do think it has accurate points. For example, I know I'm incredibly introverted so I totally support that.

I am ISFP, but I haven't done this test in years. I took the full version that was administered in a class of mine by a professor, so I believe these results more even though when I take it online I sometimes get INFP.

Ok, I read more about my 'type' and I definitely can't argue with a single character.

I took it again even though I've taken it many times and gotten the same result.

I'm an ENTJ just by a hair. My Extraverted/Introverte d score is almost in the middle. On this test, it said I had a 1% preference toward Extraversion (and from one of those links on the page, I saw that it's actually only 0.6%. Dayum). So, I marked ENTJ/INTJ because I always score in the middle of E and I but strongly score the NTJ parts.

As I was marking the answers to this one, I kept thinking, "Wow, I don't think I'd have answered like that a couple years ago, I bet I'll be different this time..."

Nope.

Im an ISFJ. I have taken this test before several years ago and have gotten the same answer and I would have to say it's quite accurate.

ISTP with Moderate Introverted, Moderate Sensing, Very Clear Thinking, and Slight Perceiving. It has changed slightly over time as I have gotten older and more mature, but i have always been moderately strong Introverted and Thinking. Sensing has shifted to stronger over time, and I still flip between Perceiving and Judging occasionally.

I actually use these in my management courses to help people start thinking about how they do see things and how their personalities can affect their decision making and how they interact with others and the world.

Same here... that or I'm on the border of ENFP & INFP. I think I'm basically an introverted extrovert though, if that makes sense? I guess you & I are in pretty much the same boat!

I think the Meyers-Briggs is pretty well-respected, but, as with ALL standardized testing, it should by its very nature be taken with a grain of salt, just as you would take an IQ test or a MMPI with a grain of salt. Just because it has merit doesn't mean it's 100 per cent accurate.

Has anyone else noticed that INFJs supposedly comprise the smallest percentage of the world's overall population, yet there are more INFJs here on this forum than any other M-B type (though the INTJs ARE keeping a close race!)? I just find that interesting.

And INTJs have the second lowest percentage of the world population and are second only to INFJs on this forum.

It seems to bear out my friend's theory... though I guess computer-discussing forums attract INT*'s and sex-discussing forums attract IN*J's. I wonder if there are any forums out there where ES**'s make up the majority, or if they all just get their thoughts out in meatspace?
