I usually have candles incase we get a thunderstorm warning, which is the worst for us anyways, sometimes we get a hurricane warning but it's normally the tail in.
I keep books, my knitting, needlepoint, and a pen and paper to write, plus when hubby is home XD. Well you get the idea.

Do you play an instrument? The power has never been out longer than my iPod is charged, but worst case scenario we have musicians in the house.

Nope. Tried many times. I can sing okay, but otherwise I'm musically challenged. lol

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys! We have some games for the little one, toys, electronics charged up, and alcohol.

I hope you remain safe during this. I was going to say eReader but yeah, that won't be too helpful. Do you have any old books to dig out or maybe rush to the library to check some out? Go to a store where the sell used books? This is so childish, but when our power was out for almost a week do to a bad storm a few years ago, my aunt was staying with us and we went to Wal-Mart (cause you know they don't close for ANYTHING) and got coloring books/crayons and word search books. My uncle is a truck driver and was close to the state and dropped by with a small generator so we were able to hook up some things so I got my computer back to watch dvds and play games. Board games and card games would be good. SLEEP,lol, I don't know about you but I never seem to be able to get enough. Battery powered handheld games, I have busted out the good old Game Boy in situations like that.

Our Wal-Mart is closed. Luckily we have coloring books and such for my son, so we're covered!

Sleep is always a good option.
