When did you last write a hand written letter?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
So many of the stationary & writing implement shops around here have closed. I see so many people who can't even write a decent thank you note, let alone actually do it at all! I enjoy the personal touch & have my own prejudices about emailed notes & form letters.

So, when did you last write a hand written letter & what was the occasion? Do you enjoy receiving them? Do you regularly correspond with anyone through handwritten letters?

I wrote one for my grandparents last year as a thank you note.

More years ago than I can count. Using my 10 fingers is much easier and my thoughts run smoother typing/keying.

I do a lot of art trades with friends from the internet, or buy their work. Whenever i do so i will scan an illustration from a favorite book of mine, such as TS Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, print and cut it to size and write a little love-note on the back. I'm the worlds worst pen pal though, i've tried several times, but i always end up putting off letters after i've only written the recipient once or twice. I do enjoy putting together letters and packages for friends, but i lack the motivation to do it most days (especially during the school semester). It's something i'm trying to work on during summer. i actually just sent out a letter yesterday to a friend since shes sending me some zines in exchange for cash, and she always sends me the most wonderful things and letters.

I currently have a minilla envelope full of hand written letters from pen-pals that have piled up over the last 3 years or so. I'd eventually like to display them.

My sweetie and I are apart frequently right now so we write several times a week. Handwritten notes are so much more intimate than text messages or emails. I also wrote a note to a friend that I sent something to this week.

A month or two ago, they're a nice way to say someone is really special.

I wrote one right before I went on vacation to send to my son's school. I would usually type something up but for school things I find it proper to send in a hand written one instead.

I'm glad to see they are still being written by people, yeah! I expected to only have 1 or 2 say they did.

I probably wrote a thank you card pretty recently. I always write my thank you cards...sometimes I write my sister's thank you cards. Otherwise, I haven't written an actual letter in years.

I wrote personal messages in every birthday card, some longer than others. The last time I wrote an actual letter was about 6 months ago
