Would you bring your baby into a sex store?

Contributor: Ash1141 Ash1141
I remember this being a hot and heavy debate on another site of mine and was curious what you guys think? Say you decided to go buy a vibrator and you had to bring your baby (under 2) into the store with you. Would you forget the vib, find a sitter, or just bring the baby in? Would you feel awkward going into a sex store and seeing someone with a baby shopping there?

Would not take a baby into a sex store...no.

No I would not bring my child into a sex store. Actually most adult stores have an 18 or over law. So you would probably be asked to leave if you brought a toddler into the store.

No, I would not take a baby into a sex store. Where I live you have to be 18, no exceptions, to go into a sex toy store. The stores (with the exception of Spencers, which sells other things) have a sign on the door that makes it clear NO ONE under 18 years of age, not even infants, may enter the store. It's a state law.

The nice thing about online shopping is that you never have to worry about it. I never left my kids with baby sitters when they were small, so I certainly wouldn't do it for sex toy shopping.

We frequent our local sex shop. I am often appalled by the number of children (under 2) in there with their parents. The sign on the door clearly states you must be 18 or older to enter and it is the law, but people do it all the time anyway.

It wouldn't happen here and I've never seen it happen. Sex related businesses here protect their asses like whoa when it comes to this kind of stuff. It was too hard for them to get their business license in the first place, no way they'd let it slip because a parent couldn't find a babysitter.

I wouldn't bring anybody under the age of 18 into a sex shop with me. I'm never going to need a vibrator so badly that I'm going to have to bring an infant with me to pick it out.

I would never do that. If I needed on that badly I would go to Spencer's. I most likely would not even do that I have a hand and know how to use it.

I would never take my child into a sex store. Many of the places have signs in Vancouver saying "no one under 19" and they say that for a reason. I don't think adult stores are a place for any child.

Wow, I am surprised I am the only one who would!

I mean I cannot remember all my childhood memories before maybe the age of three so I wouldn't really worry about bringing a baby into a sex toy shop BUT only if it is a classy clean store.

In my hometown we have a very classy shop, very clean, hard wood floors, very well decorated and all the toys are well placed, nothing is overflowing anywhere and none of the products sold have sexual images on them. It would like like a normal store to a baby.

It's a store that is made to appeal to vanilla couples so nothing is really scary or intimidating in there. Most of the toys they sell are high end.

it's ok, i would too lol. actually, we don't have memories before the age of three anyway so it wouldn't make much of a difference if someone brought their toddler in or not.

I don't have children, but wouldn't bring a child into a sex store if I did. Why would I be going into a sex store anyways? I can pop online to EF and purchase whatever I want from the comfort of my own home, on my couch, in my pajamas.

Technically, it's against the law for ANYONE under the age of 18 to enter a store. There's no exceptions to the rule. I have people try to come in my store all the time and get super upset when we tell them that cannot bring their children in at all. Sometimes they'll leave their kids standing outside or sitting in a hot car (children under 10).

My manager gets super upset at these people if they end up leaving their kids outside to come and and tells them to get the f--- out of the store and come back when they don't have their kids.

For what it's worth. I do remember events that took place before the age of 3. Scared the hell out of my mother, when I started spouting off about things that happened 20 years earlier, which she thought I'd be too young to ever remember at the time.

I wouldn't take a child to a sex store, but I think it is far worse for these people to leave their young children outside unsupervised and hot cars while they are shopping for a toy. It is not an emergency and the safety of their their children should be way more important than getting a new vibrator. I'm glad your manager puts these people in their place.

Yes, I am not surprised. Some people do remember events from very early on but it is rare.

There is a theory that the self-concept or a certain type of reasoning that is required in order to save information in the memory centers of the brain, develops on average by the age of three. So you must have been an early bloomer on that!

I remember things from when I was three but not before that and even those memories are partial and fuzzy. I remember the emotion more then the details of the event.

yeah, i totally appreciate that rule though. it is hard to get a license and everything, so i can understand the necessity for following the law (duh).

it's kind of really messed up that people leave their kids in the car, especially when it is hot.

I whole hardly agree with the law (18+), and plan to follow it.
However, personally, seeing children under a year, (especially newborns) wouldn't bother me. It's bright colors, and they have no idea what's going on.

I don't have children, but I wouldn't bring a baby into a sex shop if I had one. Unfortunately, I have seen people leave their kids in the car while they go into the sex shop. That bothers me too. I don't think children should be left alone in vehicles. Too many bad things can happen, and if the child is older and gets bored or has to use the bathroom, he or she might get out of the car and wander into the store or elsewhere.

I don't plan on having kids, but if I did I don't think I'd bring them into a sex store. Perhaps a very, very young baby. Otherwise, no.

I once heard that a store somewhere in England actually had a separate, 18-and-over section for less discreet stuff, simply so that mothers with babies could still come in. Don't know if it's true, but it's an interesting solution.

i think if i had a baby under the age of 1 that was asleep or really calm, & i knew exactly what i was going to get & was in & out in just a few minutes, then i would. but if the baby was 1 or older or really cranky, & i wanted to browse, i would leave him w/ a friend or my husband. but thank god i don't plan on having kids till i'm 30, if ever.

No, I would not take a baby into a sex store. Actually, I pretty much wouldn't take a baby under a certain age much of anywhere just so the unpredictable wailing and crying didn't bother other customers.

It actually bothers me when I see kids under about 16 inside of Spencers. Sex stores it bothers me when anyone under 18 is in there.

No I couldn't do it. I love sex and toys as much as the next person, but I would just feel weird with a baby or kid of any age with me. Plus, I would think I would be a little distracted. It's not life or death. I could wait till I could get away by myself or just with my spouse.

I would never take a child into a sex shoppe. I would pass or get a sitter, or have someone wait in the car with the baby as you went in. If you were talking about spencers in the mall, well I can't see any harm in that. They sell other items besides sex toys.
