This is a big and scary forum and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed

Contributor: Silverdrop Silverdrop
Hi! Well, the title says it all. I've been members of many forums over the years, but this one looks really complicated and confusing, so any advice on how to find my way around would be very welcome.

I'm 30 something, married, and live in the UK. I just started a blog about sex toys, and while I was researching, found Eden Fantasys and was blown away by all the options for reviewers and writers.

I look forward to getting to know people here.

First and foremost, welcome to the forum!

I promise it's not as big and scary as it looks at first glance.

The first thing I'd like to cover about the forum is the search feature. This is the little search bar right at the top of the screen and it searches everything on the site. All you need to do is type something in, press go, and select "discussions.&quo t; This is great if you're looking to start a new thread, because you can make sure that you're not starting a repeat thread and have the advantage of being able to read through previous discussions about something where you may well find your answer. It's also awesome for finding random things to read when you're bored

I see you mention that you just started a blog, and we conveniently have a Community Blog Directory that you can not only add your blog to but also check out the blogs of other people in the community.

We have a whole bunch of awesome clubs that are open to everybody, so all you really need to do is just show up at the meetings and join in. You can also check out the clubs blog which has a bunch of summaries of all the meetings that have happened so far, along with the awesome Eden Lit submissions.

If you end up with questions about stuff, we're a pretty friendly group and you can message pretty much anybody (myself included) if you have a question about something. Welcome to the community, and I hope to see you around!

Welcome to Eden! None of us bite and as Sam mentioned, we are a pretty open, friendly group. If you have questions, feel free to ask. Hope to see you around.

It's pretty easy once you spend a little time looking around! One thing I'd like to let you in on, that I learned the hard way, is to try not to post too many things that are similar, whether similar to previous posts or your own. As you probably noticed by now, you can earn points all over the site by participating! But there are a few shady characters who take advantage of the system, "point farming". One of my first days I had a question that I wanted to post, and wasn't sure which category to post it in, so I posted in the 3 that all seemed related to the topic. Two of them were flagged. I didn't get in trouble, I explained and apologized, but activity like that is very suspicious. So definitely do what Sam said, and search first to see if someone else has addressed the topic already! Welcome to the community!

A very warm welcome! Definitely take Sam's advice to heart, it really will help you get a handle on how the forum works.

One thing I would like to add is that if you go here: Community News Page, and scroll to the middle of the page where you see "Reviews for ______" you will see an RSS subscription button. Adding this feed will give you access to all of the reviews posted, instead of the limited few that are shown on that page. Reviews get knocked off pretty quickly when we've got 500+ reviews coming in for the week. Commenting and rating reviews helps to improve your rank and you get to know a little bit more about the people who are kicking around here!

Welcome. Like sktb0007, I'm pretty new here too, just going on my second month. I've never been an online forum fan until now. (It seems like all people want to do is argue on some forums, but it doesn't seem to be that way here at EF.) I actually just came here to order a product and ended up staying. It took me about a week to learn my way around and get comfortable on the site.

Thank you so much for the welcomes and advice! The threads I've popped into have assured me that most everyone is friendly here, but it was the forum structure itself that is so intimidating, with so many subforums and categories!

I submitted a story to Eden Cafe, and am waiting to hear if it's accepted. And I have a list of 6 toys that I already own to review. Some of them, I've reviewed for another site, but I'll write up fresh reviews for Eden, promise!

How exciting! No worries, you'll find lots of help and kindness here. You might want to look into getting a mentor. It's not as scary as it sounds. You can pick one to kind of guide you through, show you how to get around on this big scary site and even give you advice when writing reviews! It's a really nice experience, both the mentor program and the site in general. I personally had Sexxxy Sarah as a mentor and it was a more than pleasant experience. She gave great advice and was not afraid to point out everything I needed to know. It was scary to me at first too and still is sometimes ! Lol.

Welcome though! I can't wait to see your reviews go up. You sound like a very enthusiastic person. I'm sure you'll do great. I was really intimidated with such a hefty forum at first too, but you quickly get used to it. Just dive right in and participate and communicate with everyone and you'll learn oh so much!

Seriously, I've probably learned more here than I did in high school! Lol
