I just wanted to know if a relationship can start this way. I think I would prefer being friends first, but I'm curious to see how other people's relationships have started.
Have you ever had a one night stand turn into a long term relationship?

I thought me and my ex-husband would have been a one night stand, but he came home with me that night and just never left, lol. Until almost 10 years later when I finally left him.

I don't think it's the norm, or even a good idea to try, necessarily. But yeah, I've had that happen, and it turned out to be a wonderful relationship!

yes, I had a one night stand (an affair) with my Master while I was married to another man at the time. I didn't think it would work out long term but it turned out that we would marry and raise a family together.

My Husband was my brothers best friend. I had a boyfriend at the time so he thought I was just going to be a one night stand. I sure showed him that he was wrong.

Actually, my current partner of almost 5 years was kind of a one night stand! Lol. We had known each other a little beforehand. Not personally, but he'd been around my family and he was a friend of a close family friend who I was seeing years before & that's how we knew of each other. He was often at parties and little events where friends and my older sister and I would be involved in.
We never really spoke to each other then, but several years after the friend of my family and I had split up, I was at a friends part after the high school graduation which I didn't graduate in because I'd already gotten my ged, but anyways he was there and my best girlfriend's step dad was going through a divorce with her mom & he would buy us beer and take us to parties. I had a horrible migraine, but was instantly interested in this guy so I kept trying to be cute & make conversation. I wasn't drinking much in the beginning because the migraine. It got pretty bad so I had to lay down & he asked if I wanted to go to the store with him. I said no & he came back with BC powders for my migraine!
Lol. It was the first time I'd taken BC powders and I took it with my beer & was pretty drunk soon after. I kept trying to talk to him and get his attention & I expected him to jump all over a chance to sweet talk a drunk girl to try and get her in bed. He didn't! He made light chat and that's it.
Then my friends step dad got a little too handsy when I was drunk that night & insisted on going in the bathroom with me to "help me pee!" I was freaked & said I didn't need help, he inisted so as he was carrying me, I grabbed this guy's hand and gave him a look that said Help! He got the hint and told the man I could pee on my on.
After that night, I left and came back to see if the guy was still there (I knew of him, but no idea where he lived) He was gone so I left and went home.
That night I got a call from another friend asking if she could give my number to him. He said him & her had spent all day hunting me down! He finally found this friend of his and mine who knew me & I went to a party that night at her house to see him. We did have sex that time & I expected it to be nothing more.
To my surprise, we've been together ever since! It's been 5 years (this month!)
That'll certainly make for a good story to tell our grand kids! ha ha! JK.

Personally, I have never had a one night stand turn into anything lasting but I do know people who have.

My last relationship started as a one night stand and lasted 7 years.

I knew who my ex was before hand, but we didn't know each other well enough for me to consider voting that way. We had amazing sex and unfortunately we built the relationship on that alone... it ended badly. It was still the greatest sex I've ever had.. Damnit.

I definitely agree! I love hearing about how people started out. It seems like it's perfectly logical to start a relationship this way and it definitely leads to some great stories

Yes, a few times.

Yes, but we knew each other

Basically, yes and we did not know each other before. We met through an online forum and saw each other a couple times. Did not intend to start a real relationship, but ended up doing to about 3 months later when we both realized we want to do it and found out we both felt the same way about each other. That was about 2 months ago and now we are committed and looking forward to the very long term together.

I'm not comfortable with the idea of having one night stands. I like knowing the person I'm with well before sleeping with them.

I tried it once and it is not my thing at all. It did not turn into a relationship

I've had one night stands turn into close friendships, so I'm going to count that as a type of relationship
