Engagement rings

Contributor: Miss Anonymous Miss Anonymous
Me and the boyfriend are planning to get married. We were supposed to get married next month, but some things happened where we had to push it back. It depresses my boyfriend that I don't have an engagement ring, and I stress it to him that it doesn't matter. I just care about having the WEDDING ring. I finally said something about putting rings on lay-a-way. He was surprised because he didn't think I'd be okay with that. So, my question is.... Do you know of any good places to put rings on layaway. Any good stores or sites, or places we sould try visiting.

We are two students so, we aren't looking for something that cost an arm and a leg. lol hahahahaa

any information will be good. Thank you!

My ring wasn't expensive, but there also wasn't a lay-away option. The only place I know that does that is K-mart. Some of their jewelry is nice.

We got ours at the Fred Meyer jeweler, and they are gorgeous. There are excellent payment plans, too.

Pawn shops. Ask if they have financing. Some do.

Be careful at pawn shops, though. They buy gold, not diamonds. They don't check the four C's.

Stormy's right, so you may want to get a second opinion if you go that route. (I'm spoiled - my local pawn shop was originally a jewelers' and still operates as such. )

Thats why I'm scared to buy from a pawnshop.

I found this amazing site that has layaway. You have to put 10% down and you have 6 months to pay off the ring. I checked with the BBB and they have a score of (A) and been with the BBB starting in 2001. I love the rings. I now having a REALLY hard time choosing!

Now is it better to do the Engagement ring, or a bridal set?

Bridal set - get them done at the same time and you know the rings will fit together after the wedding.

I had a ring custom made for my husband by an artist in Australia (I then had her make mine to match). The set cost me less than $1000 and they are one of a kind.

That's awesome!

If you're going to get married so quick, why get engagement rings? Why not just get a nicer wedding ring?

Have you tried Costco? They have some amazing rings at good value! Or you can just get a diamond wedding band so it incorporates both the diamonds and the band

My boyfriend hasn't given me an engagement ring yet, but he's showed it to me. I'm like you though, and I'd be fine with just the wedding ring.

We went to Rogers & Holland. Through our job we get a great discount. I paid for most of her ring with sales of my photos.
