Thank you to Aprika and the staff at Eden for noticing and removing my plagarized review!! You are wonderful!

Contributor: js250 js250
I signed onto EF this morning and had a surprise when I checked my messages. Aprika had let me know that someone had copied, word for word my entire review for the Red Silk Boxers. She was even kind enough to include a link for me to read this.

The staff immediately removed the copied review. What great service and dedication from staff and other members!!! What a wonderful community we have with everyone looking out for each other.

Join me in giving credit to those who deserve it--the other members who look out for each other and the hard working staff!!!!

That is great that it was caught and taken care of! No one wants someone else getting their credit for their hard work. Those reviews take time and thought to write, and the idea that someone completely ripped off your review must be so aggrivating, but I am glad it was taken down.

Wow. You'd think if someone was going to plagiarize, they wouldn't post their thievery on the same site.

Isn't the staff just wonderful? Of course so is Apirka for catching it to begin with.

Yay, good catch! When I was editing, I was always amazed that people would submit plagiarized reviews and think nobody would notice!

Seen that this AM, even sent JR a message. Crazy that it was on a different product, the colors didn't even match. I was pretty surprised it was not noticed during editing. Glad the EF gods took care of it.

Same here. Even copying from the product page and the material guideline. I even had messages about similar to yours js250. ButtercupGreen actually found a review that was clearing plagiarized from my review. Only they tried to write a review for the same product they copied. Shame on them.

Great catch!! I'm still shocked that anyone would even try to do this. I do search the net for additinal infomation on an item, always the company web site. (I"m not into trying to read all the reviews that there are out in the wide world of the internet.) But I always give a link to the page I got my info from, if it is appropiate for that item. And if I actually used what I found there. I always use my own wording and my own twist. In fact, me being who I am, I even contacted my old collage english teacher recently for how to correctly site a web site in a review. Silly I guess, but I'm a stickler for giving credit when it is due.

Does anyone eles have any thoughts on using the company web site to get further information on a product and siting that information?

ICK!! That makes me so angry inside!! (Glad that it was caught - angry that someone would do this!!) I hope they get banned somehow... Sorry this happened! I feel like it is a punch to the gut! All that hard work, and someone can just snatch it?!!

Ugh I'm so sorry this happened to you! I hate it when people do that and make it super obvious. I don't even understand why they would do that. To get ahead in reviews? To see if they can get two out of the way and be voted in to be advanced? Someone was bound to notice I don't know why people who do this assume we're not paying attention .

OMG! That's not the review I edited is it, the one that was plagiarized?! Omg! I edited a couple reviews last night and someone else snatched another review of the same reviewer and due to that, the copied reviews went unnoticed until Zombirella brought it to our attention. I tried getting something done about it, but nothing!

Anyways, I am SO glad that something was done about yours! When your work is copied, It HURTS! I know Nobody deserves that.

Thank God this was taken care of We need to watch out for reviewers who copy. In our situation last night, the reviewer had copied his own review onto two diff. items, but when you said red silk boxers... I thought it might be this person. Yikes!

It wasn't noticed because the review was so out of whack and unreadable! The product is not shown when you're editing. You don't see the photo of the product they're reviewing until you've published. Number 2. when asked, the reviewer insisted that they were writing the review on the CORRECT PRODUCT. What can you do when you don't even own it? I am glad it was taken care of because I edited one and another editor edited the other so neither one of us saw that the person copied the same info on two reviews, much less that he copied SOMEONE else's review. Anyways, I wish that someone would've personally gotten back to me and the other editor to say that they were taking care of it rather than leaving us to think nothing was being done.

Oh wow! That is insane. I mean c'mon, who copies a review WORD for WORD!? Thats nuts! If you're going to be dumb and copy someones work, at least TRY to hide the fact you did so! Sheesh!

Well, Im not condoning that, but you get what I mean.

Kudos to the staff for jumping on this issue so quickly! I agree with JS, we have an AWESOME team here!

Kendra? I was actually thinking about doing this for one of my reviews. (Well, two of them) You said something about copying the review into two different items?

I am doing my reviews on the heart massagers, and honestly the ONLY thing different about them, or my experiences with them was that the color or wording on them was different. Is that not allowed? Because they work the same, they are the same thing and made of the same materials lmao. I think it would be kind of silly for me to have to re write a review on the same product How should I do this then?

Brava to all those who caught the copier!!! Down to the copiers of the world!!!

I try my best to scare my students (copying is perfectly acceptable here) and drill into their minds that copying is stealing, and that theifs should be sent to prison just as if I stole your kidney or computer.

Quick off the topic question... does it happen often here at EF?

We had a discussion posted awhile back in the forums and JR pointed out that even if it's your own work don't plagerize yourself. You have to change things up somehow.

Great job for catching it everyone, and for the wonderful staff for taking care of it. I've had to message Gary a few times myself when I've caught sections of reviews copied and pasted from the DR product page.

I sometimes wish it was required to post at least one photo of the product you're reviewing just to verify that you actually own the product and to keep dishonest people from writing fake reviews. However, I know that's not fair to the rest of us that are honest and some do not have a camera to add to their reviews.

Handy tip for editing- If you have Chrome, it's super easy to just highlight a random sentence or two, right click it and select "Search Google for..." If that sentence exists anywhere online, you'll find it instantly. (If you use a different browser, you can just copy/paste the sentence(s) into Google, it's just an extra step.) It literally takes like 5 seconds.

I started out only doing it if something sounded a little TOO perfect, but then I came across someone who had copied some reviews directly from EF that weren't so well-written. Not sure if they did that on purpose to avoid suspicion, or they just picked something random. As a result, their first copied review totally slipped by me, but I caught the 2nd because I'd just edited their first and the 2nd was in a TOTALLY different voice. Eventually I just started checking everything.

I saw this yesterday and thought someone had mistaken the Naughty People Boxers for the red satin pair. I said something in the comment section and didn't vote on the review. I should have contacted JR, I didn't because I have contacted him every few days for the last week or so and didn't want to be a PITA. I had no idea the review was plagiarized, or I would have contacted him right away.

Something seemed wrong, but I wasn't sure what. Thank you for catching it, Tim. I must have missed js's review first.

The summery and the second paragraph caught my eye and then I read about a "Red ass", I almost commented like you but felt that one of the EF gods needed to see it instead.

All's well that ends well, eh?
