How useful was the mentor program to you? (For students!)

I'm still currently in class with Sam (aka Jul!a) and I'm about halfway through, and already I've learned a ton! after her critiques I've seen several ways to improve my reviews to make them more helpful. I'd highly recommend everyone do it.

I just loved having a mentor. Since I love to write and took sevral classes in collage assosiated with english and also wrote sevral honors projects I have a preat good grasp on writing styles.. Write for you audiance, objective, ect. So my mentor was not really a huge benifit in that area. But with out her I would have been lost. I learned how to add little stuff to my review like measurments ect. She has helped with proff reading. Something I need lots of help with.

She has been my friend not just a mentor.

oh yeah, I am horible at writing with out a pen and paper and then word to ck all my spelling. I know you can tell.. LOL

Then menotor program is more than just learning how to write well. It is a big sister, ect here on EF..

I love having a mentor. If I submit to the editor any spelling mistakes are fixed but that's about it and then I am left to the mercy of the rating system to find out if the review was good or not. With a mentor I get detailed a specific feedback. I love it!

I'm working with a second mentor, now. I had a wonderful first mentor, but she's not available so I decided to branch out and get someone else to read my junk.

Beck is an AMAZING mentor! She taught me so much and helped me broaden my horizons. I was at first writing reviews that were helpful to me only, instead of what other people might have wanted to know. Now, I spend ages trying to think about what people might want to know/see in reviews.

Reading this, maybe I should go through the mentor program again. Sounds like most people had amazing experiences.

I loved it.

My mentor, Girly Juice, helped improve my writing significantly. I highly recommend her as a mentor and the mentor program in general.

my mentor was Zombirella and she helped point out what I was missing and doing wrong. I really liked the interactive aspect of the mentor program. I knew I wasn't going to just publish garbage. I wouldn't mind getting back in though. With all the changes going on around the site I will probably eventually do that so I understand what is expected of me.

I am still enrolled in my first class, I find it very helpful. I submit my review and get feedback of what I need to add or change. Sending it to an editor you don't get that. I like learning how to make my reviews better. I think I have come a long way since I first joined.

I have a request out for her to be my mentor currently. Haven't gotten a response yet though.
