I know lots of people don't think that personnel decisions are the business of the community, and you're all free to feel that way. I do just want to bring up one thing that I haven't seen mentioned though: Most of the staff here came from within the community. They started here writing reviews and being active in the forums, Eden Cafe, Sexis, mentoring, etc. Then they got hired and worked hard to make the web-based part of this company grow.
I think it's the business of those here who could potentially be employed with EF in the future to at least be armed with the information to make an educated decision about who they want to work for. They may not deserve all the details, but the do deserve to know that the boss here flakes out and their employment here wouldn't be something they could count on. There is a reason that unemployment compensation, organizations who fight for worker's rights, and places like the BBB exist.
Tim, you're such a sweetheart. We all hope things will be moving in a direction that you and everybody else will enjoy. Although our leaving is not under the best of circumstances, we hope that this is the beginning of something better for everybody.
Emma, I just realized you're leaving, too. I'm so sorry.
I'll miss all of you. I just wish the admin (whoever they are now) would be HONEST and tell us wtf is going on.
Take care, Emma, honey. All of you deserved better.

"Why does everyone immediately assume the worst?"
Because when competent employees who've built good relationships with the community suddenly have their jobs taken away en masse, it is not a positive thing. Not for those employees, and not for the community for whom they've done so much.
"What if the new community director is your favorite porn star who lights this place on fire with new and exciting things that none of us would have ever thought of?"
It wouldn't matter to me if the new community director was a porn star. And if it was someone who brought new and exciting things to the site, I would ask why that idea person couldn't have been brought in as a consultant to give the site admins some new, fresh suggestions (not that I see a need for them), rather than replacing the entire team.
"What if it just becomes so awesome that it's a party here 24/7?"
To me, it already is, and that's why I've put so much time and effort into becoming a part of this community.
"What if all of this paves the way for a brick and mortar store with a cafe to sit and chat with your girlfriends while admiring the latest toys? What if..."
I really don't see how firing the entire community admin team would be necessary in order for EF to build B&M stores, nor do I think most people want to chat over coffee, surrounded the general public, while looking at/talking about sex toys.
"Out of the ashes rises a phoenix, lest we forget that Fred is a literal genius and has so many things he wants to do here..."
Um. I, too, am a literal genius, and I'm willing to bet that a lot of the contributors here are, as well. Whether or not Fred is a genius has nothing to do with how this community feels about his apparently having fired the entire team with whom we've developed relationships. He could have done LOTS of things with this site without so harshly alienating a huge portion of his company's clientele. Even those of us who no longer need to spend money here in order to get products are still buying their goodies with hard work and contributions, which bring in more cash customers.

Hey FieryRed, have you ever seen Downfall? The whole situation here reminds me of it. It's a film about the last few days of the Nazi regime, and almost the entire time the upper-class Nazi elite are trying to placate the German public and other Nazis. They throw parties and basically force people to dance and drink and "have a good time" while their city burns and their families die. I don't want to call people Nazis or anything... but the parallel of pretending things are fine when they're CLEARLY not is there. Just like in Downfall, the blast that will blow this party permanently apart is not far off. But let's keep pretending everything is okay! Dance some more!
Until catching up on this thread just now, I honestly have not been too bothered that I didn't "get the message." But after reading what it said, I kind of think I should have, if just for the two sentences about editing. I have been working closely with Sammi (who is a wonderful person and is doing just fine post-EF) on editing for most of the past year or so. That I didn't get this message makes me wonder how many of the current 21 editors did. We needed this part, especially as I am not certain how often some of the editors visit the forums. Stormy, do you have a list as to who the editors are?
Also, Stormy, thank you for trying to keep some semblance of organization going in the community, as we have nowhere else to turn at the moment. Doing the job for over 1/2 dozen people must be stressful.
This is a letter to a small number of the most valued contributors from Eden Community. We are asking for your support and continued participation during changes that are being made to the community and the company. We know change can be scary, but we’re here to help!
I have to admit, this part of the letter is hurtful to all the contributors who didn't get it. I'm just sayin..
I was wondering why there wasn't a Flash Your Stash this week. Now I know. There must a lot of things on hold for now. I'm sad to see all these great admins go. How will Eden go on without them? It surely won't be the same.

Hey!
This is a letter to a small number of the most valued contributors from Eden Community. We are asking for your support and continued participation during changes that are being made to the community and the company. We know change can be scary, but we’re here to help!
There are several major changes taking place. The team is one: we are changing the community management team - Gary, Carrie Ann, and Sammi – to bring more fun and quality time and events to Eden Community;
Second, we are working on a re-organization of the review program. The mobile shoppers are looking for a concise, quick opinion from experienced users such as you to help them make their choices about EF’s products. We are expecting 35% of the total traffic on site to be from mobile devices and you will start to see more unique review templates, allowing each user to give their particular brand of advice on an item.
Third, an official Eden Shopping Club is long overdue. We would like to keep our loyal customers and reward them appropriately while maintaining a competitive edge with Amazon. We kind of have it already: with all the buy-out assignments and points, it is almost a club, just disorganized. We will make it official, useful, and beneficial for you.
In the meantime, I have temporarily signed back on to help you transition into a new phase with EF. Assignments are being taken care of promptly and I will have a direct contact for you within the next week or two. All orders are being processed and there should be no delays there.
SexIs – Will continue as normal, I will answer any questions as quickly as I can.
Community Events – Weekly events such as the Rumble and COTM will continue, clubs and workshops are on hold until further notice.
Editing – Please send any questions to me. I will investigate any issues as needed.
It would be a huge help to the community if you would continue to participate and keep things lively and fun just as you always have. The transition should be fairly painless but there will be nuances about the community the new director will have to learn. With a little bit of patience and understanding we can keep Eden just as awesome as it always has been and continue to see it grow and blossom.
Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions, I’m here to help and we’ll all benefit from a stronger, more unique Eden in the end. Thank you for everything you do!

ty for sharing this. i really wanted to see what neither I nor my bf got (and he's a member of the affiliate program)
we now have much work to do to remove ef from our blog unless he gets a good explanation as to why someone who markets for them almost daily was not contacted in any way. we've seen a dramatic decrease in sales since the mass banning of community members, including ourselves for a couple weeks (which was eventually cleared up with an apology). and now all this drama with no one representing the company. (i don't see Stormy as acting in any official and professional capacity)
and even if we had an explanation for the lack of communication, i would be personally embarassed to promote a company where so much drama and unprofessionalism abounds. they should of at least kept a forum moderator on staff. someone who is capable of responding as an employee, someone who is capable of professionalism.
we will be spending our money and time elsewhere and directing our blog readers to companies we can be proud to associate with
So I decided I have time to be part of this site again and....I arrive in the middle of an upheaval. O well now that I'm here might as well keep poking thorough the rumble and rioting...I'm pretty sure there is still a sex toy or toy inside the rubble.

I was just trying to say that, while it's a little murky, it's still more information than I've gotten from almost anywhere else when strange situations like this happen.

A mass email that not everyone received? That does not constitute a mass email.

I do not believe that this says the same thing as what was said earlier in the thread. I am unable to find the post now, however? Was it deleted, or am I just not looking correctly?
The removal of the admins should have been handled better. With that kind of staff turnover, the President should have addressed and reassured us.
Personal attacks against those that are left are just sad and pathetic. If you are angry with how things are handled. Write to the EF President. He is where the buck stops and where this started.
Gary started the thread with a lot of class. Let's all show the same amount of class here.
Direct your anger in the right place the one/ones who make the decisions.

I left for a few days to come back to find many of my favorite admins are no longer with us. Reading through this entire thread a lot of things for me have been cleared up, such as the lack of birthday points given out this month, but still i have a lot more questions.
I'm sorry to hear and see the abrupt change in staff, and hope everyone does well with new endevers. I do hope to still see those of you who were let go participating in forum discussion as well as posting reviews.
I'm not really worried about anything, although i am sad to see so many people go, and will continue to carry on anticipating the new changes. i wish you all the best!

I had forgotten all about the birthday points. I didn't get mine yet, either. I suppose there is still time this month for it to happen.
I had forgotten all about the birthday points. I didn't get mine yet, either. I suppose there is still time this month for it to happen.
I never got mine from April, nor have I received my GC for participating in an EdenCooks event on April 15th...but then, this big upheaval seems to explain why things haven't been running as smoothly as they should. I'm still waiting patiently, as much as I can.
I've been following the threads for days now, trying to figure out what to say. Silence thus far does not indicate an absence or uncaring on my part. I still check in on the forums often. I just haven't had much to say recently.
I'm shocked and I'm sad. A big change that happens so suddenly is upsetting to everyone. I'm sorry for the staff. You will be missed. I'm not going to speculate whether it was just or if you had warning or whatever. I'm just sorry and with all sincerity I wish you luck. It feels like something is gone.
In the meantime, I'll stay put and continue to be patient. Anxious, but patient.
I really hope fred knows what he's doing, because from where I'm sitting, this sounds like the last ditch efforts before throwing in the towel for good.
quote "To clarify more the staff decision: I put certain goals for the team to achieve. EF has 2 very distinctive groups: customers and community. Unfortunately, the level of interactions between the two is minimal and the main goal for the team in the last 2 years or so was to bridge the two, create symbiotic relationships where community promotes EF, helps its customers with the purchase, and customers support community financially. The goal has not been reached and the team is being replaced. I still believe this can be done. We will try to make it happen."
I have been staying out of the drama for the most part, trying to remain professional, but I have to refute this.
This is not the reason you gave for letting us go nor did most of the staff you let go have anything to do with these goals. The staff you let go made constant proposals and action plans only to have them ignored and not implemented by those with the power to do so -- namely you and the developers. I'm quite sure 50 or more missed meetings in the past two years had more to do with goals not being met than any failure on the part of your employees. You cannot ignore those who work for you, who work hard to build your company and community, and expect ever changing goals to be met.
It bothers me a great deal that all this dirty laundry is being aired in public -- but I will not be lied about or threatened. I will not be accused of doing things I did not do. I do not appreciate being called on a weekend by someone I no longer work for and told that there is no choice but to come after me if I did something I wasn't even aware had been done.
I was not fired for these reasons mentioned above and I did not post that video on youtube. I have not discussed the reasons you gave for firing us -- other than to say that it was financial and not performance related -- but I cannot continue to be evasive and protect you and this company when you are BLATANTLY lying. I find it appalling that you would, at this point, expect any loyalty at all.

Wow....just......wow. I believe it. That was clearly Carrie Ann's voice. I don't care who posted the video, but she shouldn't be getting threatened like that....that is just....wow....I'm speechless.
This is crazy
Now what? Where do we go? Where can we go? I don't know of any place that is like this one was.....I'm sad.....
And deleting comments and/or threads or disabling the ability to comment on them isn't going to help the situation. Just sayin.
