#EdenTasks - Proofreading Program

Contributor: Darling Jen Darling Jen
I waited for all my points to tally for the day my reviews were finally published and I never received any points. Sorry for adding another support ticket to your list. I just love my Edenpoints (they've bought me so much!).

I had submitted a ticket for that before I saw the "no more tickets" post and I got a response letting me know that they're aware and are working through it. I'd imagine it'll be part of the fixes that are in the works.

That's good news! I hope I don't annoy them too much. I wonder how they're keeping track of who got points and who didn't. It'd be a lot of work to look everyone up individually.

I don't think anyone is getting points for reviews right now, so they could probably look through the log or RSS feeds or something and see who's got published reviews in the past X-number of days and add it like that.

Near as I can tell I've been getting points for my submitted reviews. And I got that same "we're working on a fix" message to a support ticket I put in regarding missing notifications for comments on all my reviews, lol. I know everybody's been really busy over there, so I'm not sweating it too much.

Hmm. Scratch that last comment, then.

Maybe they'll just send a message out that people should review their logs and file a ticket if they're missing points?

Ack, I can't even imagine how that'll be sorted out.

That's what makes the Eden staff so awesome, they always magically fix things

That is a pretty good idea. I love that changed your avatar to that balloon after the CEC... lol

I am for that as it makes sense. The only down side I foresee to that, is that then there could (possibly) be a problem with people "down" flagging- in other words just flagging instead of down voting.

I'm sure it would be taken care of, but then again it might not be as much work for Eden to deal with "down" flaggers then down voters.

Lol.. I am sure I have bugged the forums a few times with my (im)patience. I'm working on it, but it's not easy!

Yes that is why I came up as your editor. I submitted mine on Thanksgiving (25th) and still haven't hear from them yet.

But if I don't get chosen for it now, that is fine, as they are still working out a lot of kinks. I haven't checked it today yet, but here's to hoping!

Since the changes it also seems like the usefulness of reviews isn't being calculated correctly as well. Is this part of the fix?

Thanks.

Well, I figure that if someone is consistently downvoting things improperly, that would be dealt with the same way that it's dealt with on the forums.

Or did you mean flagging editors if the review stinks?

Sorry, I'm not sure which way you were talking about.

I figured that it would be easier to handle flaggers because that way people are only flagging if they think the editor did a poor job with editing, rather than if the review is terrible but the writing quality is fine; because they could make categories with appropriate flags, and "This review is the worst thing I've read since I read the inside of that bar bathroom wall in Boise" wouldn't be on there, but, "This editing is the worst editing I've read since I read the editor's comments of that bar bathroom wall in Boise."

AAARGH I don't know why my posts keep doubling lately, it is really annoying.

I have been getting points for my reviews as well; my only issue has been in my student's reviews there have been double tags and they won't go away. I haven't submitted any tickets relating to those, though, because I know all the kinks are currently being worked on. I just vent in here

I hope so, I have noticed that as well. All the reviews are seeming to be "less useful" than they really are lately. Even extremely useful reviews have been useful at best. I would say give it until you hear that the fixes are live on the site before submitting anymore tickets.

Lol...

I meant what you did, I think? I think we are on the same page because what I was thinking is that people would flag out of spite like they have on the forums, and I wasn't sure if that would be more work for Eden than the whole voting thing.

But a new flagging system, if possible, would be an excellent way of doing this.

Unless of course the voting is only temporary.

Yes, I haven't submitted any tickets ecause I'm sure they're overwhelmed right now with all that is going on. I'm glad others are noticing it, though

I applied on the same day and am still waiting for approval as well. They probably just have a lot of applications to look at.

This is still in the testing phase. Approval, in general, will be very selective and I wouldn't expect to hear back until the glitches are worked out and it's been a few weeks.

If you rate a 5.5 or above, you are getting auto publish and automatic points. Otherwise your stuff goes through the editing process before points are awarded and your review publishes.

There are a bunch of reviews that fell into "no man's land" done a few days when the system was not up and running properly, but as far as I've been told the staff is working like crazy to fix it all. I have one review that is still in "no man's land" and not published and one published but no points yet. Shit happens. We just have to be patient. They'll get it worked out. Everything new is worth waiting for.

I've noticed a few more glitches and reported them to Gary.

I noticed even more today. Anyone else have these problems?

1. I have had a lot of the follow ups that I have edited not show that I edited them. They actually don't show that anyone edited them

2. I edited a follow up and submitted it. Then another editor, picked it up somehow and "edited" it again. Not sure if that was a glitch too? I got points for it i believe, so that means two people submitted the same edit.

Too zealous; too enthusiastic, determined; too fervent.

Fanatic: marked by excessive enthusiasm for and intense devotion to a cause or idea; "rabid isolationist."

I think they mean being too nit-picky and correcting things that are not so much "grammatical" that changes the author's voice in the review.

OK so vote on the review for content and the editor for editorial merit. That clears that up totally! ~nods

My review of the book Opening Up did auto publish but I received no points or at least didn't get any notification of any points.
I am aware that this is a glitch that is known and being worked on. Just stating it's still happening, not meaning to start a war.
