#EdenTasks - Proofreading Program

The limit has been three reviews a day per editor as long as I've been editing. You can pick up three followup reviews per day as well. When the program first started, I believe the limit was set to ten reviews per day.

Okay, this is utterly bizarre. I just edited a review and published it. I then clicked on it to see the published version and noted that there were already comments on it that were a few days old. link

How can this be? I also didn't get any points for editing it (which makes me sad because I spent well over an hour on it writing up thorough explanations for each editing change and linking resources for each example to help the contributor).

Is anyone else noticing bizarre glitches? less

To clarify, I noticed the review was published on March 21. Again, it already has votes and comments on it. However, I just now edited it today, the 23rd.

I did notice that I only had the option Save and not Publish, but I just thought I'd already clicked Publish accidentally before I was finished (I've done it once before by accident). Apparently I did not do anything of the sort accidentally and Publish was simply never available (though, again, it already IS published somehow).

I am also still currently locked into the review, as my status on this review says "In Progress." Therefore, I cannot pick up any other review to edit. What should I do? less

Oddly enough, it states the following on the link above (which is somewhat contradictory if you must have a ranking of 5.5 for your reviews to skip the editing process):

"First, you need to activate the EdenTasks service in your account. You must complete the basic settings, such as: personal info, email, avatar, have a rank of 5.0 or higher, and submit your request to become an editor."

That's where I got the idea that anyone with a ranking of 5.0 or higher would not need editing. less

Hmmm. I wonder how the review I edited somehow managed to get published on its own? It was published a few days BEFORE I edited it, and it is still showing on the EdenTasks queue. I could open it and edit it, but I could not publish it (though I showed as the publisher on the live review page as long as I had the task locked--but, I could not pick up more reviews to edit until I sent it back to the tasks queue).

I just assumed the reason I didn't get any points for editing it was because the reviewer had a ranking of 5.1. Now it makes no sense at all. less

A: Eden Tasks is a new ‘Market Place’ that allows contributors to earn points through performing various tasks posted by EF.

Q: What is the ‘Review Proofreading’ task?

A: The ‘Review Proofreading’ task is the first of hopefully many exciting Eden Tasks. ‘Review Proofreading’ will allow contributors to edit and publish the reviews that until now, only the Review Team have been able to edit and publish.

The ‘Review Proofreading’ task is a privilege that will be available to the more experienced reviewers (for obvious reasons). We will start out with a small test group initially to see how the program works. We will then add people as needed to balance out the flow or reviews.

An exciting side effect of the ‘Review Proofreading’ task is now mentors will have more control over the reviews of their students. (to highlight, correct, or make notes)

Here is some additional info:
- requests will generally be approved within 48 hours, M-F
- not all requests will be approved, some will be declined. Every request is approved or declined by a real person on The Review Team.
- factors for approval include rank, writing ability, community participation, and so on. Editors must be well-rounded
- any editor found to be overzealous in their corrections will be removed from the program

I hope this answers all of your initial questions, and I hope you all enjoy Eden Tasks (we have worked very hard on this for a while now). We look forward to working more closely with the community, as well as giving the community more control over the content and rewards for their activity. less

Amongst a few other issues here, it seems as though the initial pool of reviews that were 'eligible' for the Proofreading task was only like 10 or 12. So until next week it will likely be business as usual. I will post more on Monday after I get a chance to talk with the programmers. less

Alright, I decided to compile a list of the faulty tasks (either cannot be edited/published, already published, etc.) because I'm tired of having to click through tons of reviews to find one that needs to be published.
