Do you think video reviews are starting to go down or up hill?

I agree, much of the information on EF is relatively inaccessible to the public because they either do not know how to navigate threads in the forum (searching topics) or because the information is outdated. I recently recommended at the CEC that they update their FAQs because there is hardly ANY information to be found there and it is probably causing an overwhelming amount of confusion and unnecessary support tickets. I think the same needs to be done with the review and video review information. Most of the info is on the Eden blog, but I don't even know how to get to that and I have been around for 6 months.

There is a LOT of information that Eden has provided for their customers and contributors and there is a large amount of it that many of the contributors don't even know exists. I think what needs to happen is a combination of a sitemap being added and the appropriate links being available on pages where people would actually be trying to find the information from.

This here should clarify any confusion surrounding the point of the adult videos, or they way in which they can be identified or differentiated.

As a major contributor to the adult reviews on EF, I will I say I was a bit disturbed to come across this post. We're all entitled to our opinions, but a simple explanation for the generalization of the entire group of contributors as "going down hill" would have been nice from those who feel this way.

That said, there is a time and a place for both types of videos. We choose to do adult videos because there are more perks to adult videos than there are for regular, descriptive reviews. These videos have two very separate and distinct purposes which need to be reflected in the video "review" for it to qualify or fit the criteria.

I guess I kind of just wish people would be a bit less ignorant and would present their complaints and criticisms in a more constructive manner.

That said, there are times when Jes and I struggle to find a creative and "slightly less than pornographic" way to show the toy in a unique and sexy light without making each video into an infomercial or late night HBO production. We generally try to include some type of humor to keep things fun and light, while still showing the toy in a way that the viewer can understand the shape and size of the toy, and how it might be used.

Our goal is not to sell the features of the toy, EF and the manufacturer of the product are responsible for that - if my job/goal here were marketing I would be getting reimbursed in a much bigger way. Jes and I don't do commercials and we don't want to either, we are creative and fun people who do not wish to take on the responsibilities or difficulties of marketing a sex toy. Think of the adult video reviews as more of a skit meant to show the toy in a less "clinical" light, and forget the word "review" even exists when watching the adult videos, as reviewing the product was never meant to be the goal of the adult videos. less

I would just like to say that I LOOOVE your guys' videos! They are very creative and entertaining. And I always love the music you add in as well. Good job you two, keep it up!

That said, I love all reviews because they all have something different to offer. I also like the fact that EF adds the "adult content warning" although it is an adult site, at least I know to be more careful to who is around me when I open up the video.

Someday, when I get a decent video camera, I'll add my share of video reviews to the mix as well less

I would really like more of a balance between the two. I think that the reviews do need more of a description of the toy. Showing how it is used isn't a bad idea, its a good one. But it needs to be balanced out with the information about the toy as well. less

Love you all, don't want to see any of you naked. I just don't think it's necessary. The only example I can think of where nakedness is appropriate is if the user is reviewing nipple clamps. And...do we really need video reviews of clamps and cockrings any way? Probably not. less

I get that there are different kinds of video reviews, but I feel like the presentation is still lacking. There's nothing I've found that tells you ahead of time you're clicking on an erotic "review"/demonstration rather than a review that just shows off the size and shape and has a person talking all about the materials and how to use it and how they liked it. It's just a "video review" and you click it and oh there's that person's titties!

Which is fine. I just think there's probably a better way of labeling what sort of review it is. less

Just an FYI...We have a few types of videos:Manufacturer videos - which we get from the manufacturer of the products or that they upload on their ownSneak peeks - Which are done in our office and are usually just a quick look at the toy, generally new toysVideo reviews -- which are done by our wonderful reviewing team and are meant to be a look at the toy, but not a full reviewAdult reviews - which are meant to be sexy, adult, erotic and at least partially nude. This is an adult site and we do tag our adult videos with a content warning so that those who choose not to view nudity do not come across it inadvertantly -- but these videos are done with our full sanction and at our request. less
