Only One Video Review Rule?

Contributor: Happy Camper Happy Camper
First things first. I'm afraid I wasn't paying very close attention when I uploaded my first couple reviews and I uploaded a video on to a product that already had a video. In the interests of sticking to the rule, should I delete the video to keep things consistent? Or should I not bother since it's been up for a week now?

Since educating myself on this policy, I sometimes come across video reviews that I find utterly unhelpful or where the sound isn't synced up properly or I feel like its leaving out important information about the toy. And I feel like the site would benefit from a better video review being uploaded. Should we bring these to staff members attention on a case by case basis? Or is there any leeway in that policy? It just seems like a strange rule to abide by.

Don't delete your videos. There can be as many videos as you want on a product, but only the *first* video will be reimbursed with a giftcard. As for those products that have minimal videos, you could try asking Carrie Ann (carrieann@edenfantasy s.com), but more times than not, if we have the video up, we probably aren't going to reimburse another video on the same product. However, you're welcome to upload another video if you'd like; like I said, you can have as many videos on a product as are available, it's just a matter of only the first one getting reimbursed.

Does that make sense?

That makes perfect sense! I'm not a 6.0 reviewer so I don't even really care about gift cards yet. I just love doing video reviews and I find them so helpful. Thanks for clarifying!

No problem I look forward to seeing more of your videos around the website. Let me know if you have any other questions.

And, don't forget, the videos are an adjunct to the written review. It isn't necessary to include EVERYTHING about the toy in a video review. (I used to try to include everything but that makes for a long video that no one wants to sit through.)

But, like you, when I watch a video, I prefer if someone shows me, instead of only telling me what the product does. The written review tells me I go to the trouble of watching reviews to see things that you can't explain in writing most of the time. (That's the purpose of video reviews. IMO.) I've seen videos for vibrators where they don't even turn the vibrator on! "And, it's kinda loud and it goes like ZZZZZ." There should be some basics for a video review. Turning ON any vibrating toy or toy with moving parts should be important.

And,in my opinion, if the toy isn't in tip top working order, I wouldn't do the video! We watch them to see HOW the toy works. A video of a toy that isn't working doesn't benefit anyone. (And, we are doing these videos to benefit our viewer and benefit Eden. )

I always make sure I have new batteries in my vibes, that the product is in good working order, is clean and I have a script (basic, but still) before I turn on the camera.

Oh, and does anyone know? I thought I remembered reading that if there's an adult video review, you can still put a regular review for reinbursement and vice versa. I can't find where I saw that though.

Yep. That's true. If there is an adult video on it, it's still eligible for a video review. It's in the video review guidelines:
