Ditto. What is a flame test / what happens? Does it damage the toys if it's not 100% silicone? If so, it sounds scary to try.

It is scary to try, and really should only be done by professionals, people with specialized training, special equipment, and who really know what they're doing.

Materials that are not 100% silicone can quickly catch on fire, and that is not a fire that is easy to put out. Dousing it with water can make it splash and spread, it releases toxic chemicals, and it can keep burning in even the most unfavorable conditions.

For more information about the dangers of flame testing silicone at home, see ToyTimeTim's thread on the topic (he actually is a professional, trained and has special equipment to do the flame test safely): link

Here's another thread on the topic of the safety aspects of flame testing toys yourself: link

Yes, ESPECIALLY for anal toys! Other materials will be porous and therefore harbor nasties like feces, bacteria, etc.

(Not that silicone is the only non-porous material, there are plenty of others, like glass, etc. But my main point is that if it claims to be silicone and isn't, there's a big chance you're taking a risk with your health)
