First anal toy? Butt plug or vibrating plug?

Contributor: Lucky21 Lucky21
I think for a first you should forego a vibrating one, because it may cause less feeling about what is going on, though I prefer vibrations.

I've heard more horror stories about vibrating plugs than I care to mention...so I definitely prefer simple plugs.

We've tried both vibrating and non-vibrating ones and feel that the vibrations make a plug feel more pleasure, hence more desirable for a beginner. ... more
Appreciated comment from the other opinions, thank you...

Yep I think I will just get something what is safe enough, with vibration, and try it without turning it on... ^^

Vibrating plug! Love love love I usually think non vibrating toys are a little boring, in general.

I don't like the vibrations, but maybe you want to get one with the capability to see if you do.

Non vibrating is better for beginner. Vibrating much better for pro.

I'd say go with a simple butt plug

I'm slightly torn, because these days I almost exclusively use plugs of the non-vibrating variety, as I much prefer them. When you're starting out though, and you're not completely comfortable with having something sitting up there, there is something quite soothing about the vibrations, which makes it more tolerable as you become accustomed to the overall sensation.

Vibrating helps newbies.

I used a vibrator for that purpose, and it helped relax me during it. Tried a (non-vibrating) butt plug a few years later and it wasn't even close to as good an experience. That's just my experience, though.

In Anal Pleasure and Health by Jack Morin, PhD, the author says it's best to start with a thin vibrating toy like the Naughty Boy.

Mr. Morin writes a vibrating toy won't numb you, but it will help the muscles to relax, which will make insertion easier.

Use lots of lube. Go slow. Stop moving if it hurts and allow your butt to get used to the size. If the pain doesn't go away, stop, and just try fingers for a while. If it does, continue until it's in, stopping if there's anymore pain.

Enjoy!

I'd get a plug from Njoy.

Probably non-vibrating would be the best start since it can numb the sensation if you overdo it.

I would recommend a butt plug, preferably a Njoy. Although I can't say which one would be better only because I never experienced a vibrating toy of any kind.

I prefer non vibrating toys for the most part, but really it depends on what you like.

Simple butt plug/butt plug set - no vibration but mainly you have to relax your muscles back there when penetration starts

My first toy was the nJoy Pure Plug. I skipped the small and went straight to the medium, and I'm glad I did.
Even though I'm still a beginner, I know that the small would very quickly be "too" small for me.
