Small Butt Plug

Contributor: ZenaidaMacroura ZenaidaMacroura
Just a quick question to anyone who may know. I reviewed this toy a while back, and I would swear it said it was silicone. It even says in the description that it can be sterilized, boiled 3 minutes, etc, as if it is silicone. I wrote my review as such. But now it says it's TPR silicone. Maybe that's what it said before and I simply overlooked it, but now I'm just wondering which it actually is. Is is TPR silicone, or is it pure silicone? If it's TPR, I need to write a little updated review.

I don't own this plug, but $40 seems awfully high for it to be TPR Silicone. Did you notice any smell at all on the toy? TPR Silicone still has a little bit of chemical scent, where 100% Silicone have no scent at all (or taste for that matter). I also see that the picture of the toy lists "100% Platinum Cured Silicone" on it. I would think it would be Silicone, and not a composite, though eden staff would be able to give a definite answer on it.

I'm sure Cock Wrangler will check on this be to one hundred percent certain, but here is my take:

Many mainstream companies bill their items as silicone (even 100% silicone and all that). However, as Bulma pointed out, silicone does not smell, at all. All, it doesn't leave gross filming things on packages, etc, so even if the package says it is 100% silicone, if it smells, seems to be leaching, etc, there is high likelihood of it being a silicone composite. 100% silicone composite, but composite none the less. We usually do the smell test, and if it smells, we put it down as TPR.

Moreover, you can look at the company. Some companies only deal is 100% medical grade silicone, like Vixen, Tantus, Fun Factory, Happy Valley, and Down Under. Big mainsteam companies like Topco rarely if ever make products that are 100% silicone of a non-smelling medical grade, so we tend to be more cautious labeling these products as such.

Again, we'll have someone check, but my guess is that it is in fact TPR, which is still WAY more body friendly than jelly, but is slightly different than normal silicone. Wait and see what CW says, but I'm guessing you might need to write a follow-up.

Thanks for being so conscientious!

Thanks for the info! I also thought $40 seemed high for TPR, but who knows. And I didn't notice any kind of smell with this plug, but I'll wait for the experts to figure out what it's actually made of.

Hmph, I hope it's pure silicone. I also agree $40 is steep for TPR.

I'm sorry, where is it saying that it is TPR silicone? Everything I am looking at now says silicone. Has something already been adjusted? I believe that Topco-Hustler does make some real (not TPR) silicone toys, but I could be mistaken.

It has been changed to Silicone in the properties tap, however the safety scale still shows it as TPR Silicone with a rating of 6. Under properties it was changed recently, because when I was on yesterday morning (9-2-08) it said TPR Silicone. Guess that means it is pure silicone after all?
