I feel stupid saying this, but I couldn't use a wooden dildo. I'd be worried about splinters (Can you imagine, how would you get a splinter out of your vagina?) or how sterile it would be.

Wood sex toys are always treated with a body-safe glaze, so they feel just as smooth as glass. And they can easily be sterilized by wiping them down with a 10% bleach solution, just as you could do with any other kind of toy.
