Why Cock Rings?

Contributor: Sera Sera
Why are cock rings so popular? I understand that they decrease blood flow to the penis and shaft and prolong male orgasm and coming, but gee, isn't the guy perfect just the way he is? Why do we have to be sex perfectionists?

It's not trying to be a perfectionist so much as just adding something different to sex. A vibrating cock ring like the one we ownlink allows me to last a little longer and heightens feelings for both my wife and myself.

There are a few different uses for a c-ring.

They can keep a guy harder and help him last longer via blood supply changes

By vibrating, they add more stimulation for her

By limiting blood flow, they can make the veins stand out in the penis, which adds to the natural texture

Cock and ball torture

That's all I can think of

Is anyone really a "Sex perfectionist".

Like JR is saying, for a lot of guys a cock ring will prolong ejaculation. There are some that can not keep a erection without the use of a cock ring. They are also nice to increase your girth and length, much the same as women that like a bigger dildo/vibe.

Me personally, I like to have a vibrating penis for the wife to enjoy. She also likes the type that stimulate her clit.

A lot of older guys whos erections aren't quite as strong as they used to be also enjoy using cock rings.

I have one that was made in the seventies. It was given to me by a friend with instructions for use. Looks like this one. Even back then they used them, I would bet money that they have been around for longer than that.

Just did a quick search of cock rings - can't tell what's true and what's not but according to some sites, cock rings have been around for centuries to maintain erections and prolong ejaculations.

OK got it. Duh!

Maybe an implant?... "hey baby squeeze my left nut, there is 5 settings for your enjoyment".

I would get a piercing if it would vibrate.

Ya! I was looking for something to review one day and found one that looks just like it. Of course the basic design can not be changed much. The real crazy part was he told me he would wear one for three or four hours, I can't wear mine for more than 20 minutes!

Yep - that's true for me. Since I'm 55+, the cock ring helps keep a stronger erection longer.

As an unexpected benefit my wife swears it makes me noticeably larger. Don't get me wrong - it can't be a lot, but she likes the added girth.

It kinda brings into question all those who say that size doesn't matter. There's no doubt in my mind that it does, women are just reluctant to admit it - lest they offend their average size partners (like me).

I don't think size "matters" in the sense that sex will be bad with average sized partners. My sex life is awesome with my husband and he is average sized. But, that doesn't mean that I don't like a little extra girth or length every once in a while. Different sizes add variety and variety is awesome. But, my husband's cock is perfectly sized for me and feels just wonderful even though it's "average sized".

This! Although I haven't really found a cock ring yet that prolongs ejaculation..I have to say that the vibrations are fun and add something different and fun to sex and I don't think that it's trying to be a perfectionist or saying that the guy isn't perfect the way he is.

I don't think it has anymore to being "sex perfectionists" than a woman using a vibrator or a dildo. It's a different experience, and it's fun, and it's exciting, and if both partners enjoy it WHY NOT?

It's also easier for an older man to keep his erection, like a lot of people have said.

I know a lot of men (not here) say "why vibrators? Why aren't we good enough?" Same thing, it's a different experience, it's exciting and for some people it may be needed for satisfaction.

If you don't like them, then don't use them. A lot of people use either or both, and I don't think "perfectionism" plays into it. I think "interesting experience" plays into it.

Agreed. When people find out about my toy collection, they usually think I've set incredibly high standards for men and won't ever be satisfied. To the contrary, sex is better now that I've played with lots of sensations and discovered more about my body.

It's not about being a sex perfectionist. It's about giving you and your partner deserved and enhanced sexual pleasure.

Not to mention, it certainly benefits the man. My Man is in his 50s and although enjoys sex even more than when he was younger (if that's possible, and it is) he can't always get the quality of erection he wants, especially if he's tired, or we've recently made love (we've always "recently made love") or other problems. When he was younger, there was never a problem, but high BP, age and other factors can play into temporary, occasional potency issues. This messes with a man's mind, and a ring can be very helpful in letting him know that he CAN.

A ring is in some cases preferable to some men than taking a Viagra or Cialis, (My Man has high blood pressure and has to be careful with these drugs) and it can help the man feel very potent and strong.

It's an interesting combination of chemistry and psychology - sometimes I think if I could get someone to hypnotize me I wouldn't need the Cialis - but I'm still glad I have it! The ring is Cialis' 'little helper' (for all the Stones fans out there)!

I have no problem with either one of us using Viagra, we've both used it at the same time and it was a blast. But, he has high BP, and it is also expensive. Also, sometimes we don't even realize he might have needed it until we're into it. A ring saves, like, 30-45 minutes of waiting.

But, I have no problem with the stuff, if you're healthy enough to take it.

it's not so much about perfectionism as it is about the perfect sex for each person.

everyone likes something different.

As most everyone else has said, it isn't so much about perfection as it is verity. Also, it does seem to help keep a guy harder longer, and that is usually a good thing.

Then, add vibrations to the ring and like JR, DW and Nakanas said, there is something to be said for being your wifes favorite vibrator! Just lay back, watch and feel the pleasure she is feeling!

Yup, I had to replace one of the snaps but it still works great. I got it from an older Hippy friend of mine back in '86. Mine is a lot nicer than the one I linked to. The Leather has been folded twice and then sewn with two seems.

I do not always use the ball straps though, unless it is very warm in the room they are not that easy to get my sack to stretch enough.

With proper care Leather can last forever.

I've heard all about cock rings and have used one of the cheaper made ones. It was rubber and looked about like the toys one used to get out of those plastic eggs at the grocery stores. It didn't work all that well and the vibe attached didn't last long. I've wanted to try one of the metal or more pliable models made from other materials however I have a slight fear. Are cock rings (metal ones) safe? What if you can't get it off? I don't want to become the joke at the local ER.

As long as you measure properly they can work good. I will recommend going slightly larger, this makes them easier to get on and it will also limit the risk. You can read my review on my first metal C-ring here. I also tell how to properly measure and how to put one on.

I like to have A C-ring with a vibe made out of the softer materials, just for some extra stimulation.

lmao.

So would a cock ring have to be a little tight in order to do its duties right? I would assume that if it fits too loosely then it wouldn't really be increasing blood flow.
