How do you budget?

Contributor: charletnarouh charletnarouh
Do you have a system for working the cost of new toys into your budget? Do you save specifically, do you just buy when you have the money or do you normally have the money to buy whatever you want, or do you have some kind of allowance system or amount set aside specifically for toys?
Answer below, if you're comfortable, with details of your system for including toys in your budget and how much per week/month/year/etc. you spend on toys.

I don't have a set amount. When we either order from online, or go to a toy shop, we have the extra money to spend. Usually, it's at least $100 for fun money.

My rule of thumb is to never spend more than 20 dollars after the shipping/points/coupon calculations, but I also have to have a surplus in my bank account to consider buying things other than necessities.

We used to make a lot of impulse purchases. Now we tend to plan for things, and save up points for them.

yeah it's called wait until I have enough points for said item. There has only been one time I've spent actual 'money' (only like $15) and It was on a visa GC I won..

I'm fairly new to the "business" and it's hard to wait to try everything I want to try. When I first started using toys (by myself), I bought a vibrator I could afford and used it until it wore out. Then I bought another one, etc. Once I started dating my current partner, I started buying things we could incorporate into the bedroom--other vibes, some bondage cuffs, etc. I splurged a bit on the cuffs, but now I plan ahead. I know what I want to try and I'm saving my points and extra cash for it. If there happens to be an awesome sale, sometimes I'll spontaneously take advantage of it, but I shouldn't do that too often.

I only buy when I have enough points to cover the entire cost! It slows things down a bit, but it's better for my wallet!

I make sure I want something at least for a couple of weeks before I buy. I don't go too crazy! I like to have money for beer and golf.
