Lelo Knockoff?

Contributor: Envy Envy
I was looking around and saw what appears to be Lelo knockoff of the Liv. I saw it on Fetish Zone, and then on another site. I'm surprised the company was able to get away with it being so close in design and all.

You can't really copyright or patent a color combination, so there's nothing legally wrong with it. And it's not like they've named it something similar, or marketing it with intent to deceive.

What's wrong with a knockoff? Sure, it's not good for Lelo's company, especially if people buy those more, but we have that all of the time in market - one company does something, the others copy it and/or make it their own, adding different features or producing it in a different way.

I've never personally seen knockoffs of Lelo's products other than the one that you sent, but it doesn't seem too similar to theirs honestly. Their Livs are much thinner and less bulging at the tip.

I have to admit, the resemblance is close, and it's clear that the intent is to mimic LELO in the hopes of getting people to buy them. Apparently LELO doesn't mind? Or maybe they do, but they're just keeping the "proceedings" quiet.

It's true that you can't copyright or patent a color combination or "overall" design, but you can go after someone who deliberately designs something that is very close in nature to yours. I forget the exact term for it, but if you deliberately copy numerous aspects of something in order to make a very close copy, in other words "stealing their thunder", you *can* encounter legal issues as a result.

They do look pretty similar, but the Form 6 has the same look to me, just in monotone rather than two tone. When you think about it, there are lots of sex toys that have similar look/design to one another. Whether that's intentional or not, I don't know.

They look similar, but the price is completely different. If you want better quality you'll get the real thing.

Nothing wrong with it, just saw the color, metal band, and white handle and thought of Lelo, but when I went to look it wasn't a Lelo toy. Was also just wondering if anyone has seen something like it before or any other products that mimicked Lelo's style so to speak.

Ah, yeah. I've seen nJoy knockoffs, but never Lelo other than this one now.

Wow. Aren't Lelo toys copyrighted or patented or something like that?

I think the fact that Lelo is being copied bodes well for their recognisability as a brand. People always want the ORIGINAL, and will educate themselves to get it, hopefully!
