Lelo Much?

So I've found that more and more I recognize the color scheme and patterning in sex toys that are not from the Lelo brand as imitating the Lelo brand.

I know that Lelo does not have a patent or anything on the scheme, but to all of us who are familiar with sex toys, it is recognizable. I know I sometimes wonder why they would do it. I mean, I guess they are drawing in some customers who subliminally associate the scheme with luxury and good craftsmanship, but in the end they are still associating that stuff with LELO. Why don't companies come up with their own scheme or look that is recognizable?

Thoughts?

I'm looking at Patchy Paul, and have never tried a FunFactory toy before. How strong are they compared to Lelo toys? I love that they have a handle.

Perhaps it is to offer the same look and feel at a discount price. However, I am not sure what the retail will be for this one, yet. These are not rechargeable like LELO products. In fact, this one takes 2 AAA batteries. So, I even question the ability to be as powerful. I've requested it to try out. Guess we will see if it is close or not.

I see where you're coming from, but as I don't have a LELO yet, I guess I don't know the difference in craftsmanship. I'm sure I will once I own one though.

I think a lot of folks are trying to raise their bar to be on the level as LELO as they seem to be coming out as the leading brand for quality and luxury. Maybe someone who thinks the Mona is too much, might like something like this better as it's battery powered and may not be as strong? (???)

I may not be as much help, and I do think that perhaps copying a color scheme is probably not a great idea, but if companies are aspiring to compete with the best (based on others' opinion), then that just translates to more toys for us!

Imitation is the finest form of flattery right? When you have the top products someone will always be trying to get your crumbs and that's what this looks like to me. Other companies trying to profit from imitation.

I made a post about this before having seen this vibe at other sites. I guess they can do it since they have made some changes enough to be considered 'different'.

Haha, when I saw this I was going to say something as well. Sportsheets seems to do a great job in restraint systems and water play accessories. However, I have doubts about the quality of their dildos and vibrators.

Though I haven't seen it in person yet (just ordered) I can totally see how the design is very similar to Lelo (if not spot on). Having said that, I don't know about the level of quality or power levels to say it's as great, or how much worse. In cases like this I sometimes think having a company create a more affordable version is a good idea, it allows people to try it as a discounted prices - they if they decide the shape works for them they can upgrade to one that's rechargeable, more powerful and has more to offer by way of vibration settings. Not saying I totally agree with it, since it is ripping a company off to a certain degree, but if it means people get to explore and learn about their sexuality - well, so be it.

I would guess probably because a lot of people associate the Lelo shape with luxury and thus want to buy it. This gives an alternative with the same styling but at an affordable price. I haven't tried this one to know how it compares with the Lelo brand. I would like more brands to find unique styling like you said though. I guess it's kinda comparable to how car companies work. Like, Toyota makes it's line look like it's Lexus luxury vehicles so Toyotas look more luxurious. If that makes any sense!

Companies do stuff like this often enough. If a brand is popular, then imitating it is likely to make your stuff somewhat popular too!
