It will only do that if it's up against something that will cause an indent or if sat up against other toys. The company does recommend housing them in the plastic box they arrive in.
If you make sure it has its own space, then you'll be fine.

I keep all my toys away from touching each other so I have never had any issues.

I have toys of both materials and while they are more delicate than other toys, I've had no problems. Just use a little more care in storing them, as the other folk here have mentioned, and both should be just fine.
If I had to guess, I'd say that Vixskin is slightly more finicky just coz the soft layer is thicker than the O2's. Still, not a big difference.
