While I appreciate his entrepreneurial spirit, I think it's kind of ridiculous. That's what lock boxes and other things with locks on them are for. I'd have zero shame about locking down my bedroom and explaining that it's off limits. I'm an adult, my house rules should be respected.

i like to keep my sex toys in a pink box on my night stand. i won't be investing in anything in the near future. it's my room, so unless someone has permission to see the stuff in the box, they shouldn't have any reason to see it.

I definitely agree with others here; I would hope my privacy would be respected, and ideally I would like to keep them locked up, anyway. I wouldn't really want to go to the trouble to store them somewhere else.
