How big of an age gap is too big?

I think it matters more what stage of life you're at than just your chronological age - as long as everyone's 18+, obviously.

I prefer the age gap formula. Half your age plus 7.

My husband is 8 yrs older than me, for me personally I don't know that I could go more than 10. Everyone knows what works for them and as long as all are of legal age and mind set then it should be there choice.

My personal opinion is that anything more than about 10 years is just too much, but I no people that have bigger gaps than that and they are fine with it and I say nothing because its not my place to judge them however a co-worker of mine she is 18 and her soon-to-be husband is 47 to me that is just gross he is old enough to be her grandfather (well almost). I just personally would not be with someone that is more than 2 or 3 years older than me and I would never consider someone younger than I.

Unacceptable is too strong a word! But if a guy is closer to my dad's age than mine it seems a little odd. I would never say never though, he might be perfect in every other way and it could be something you chose to everlook. I do think large age differences complicate the relationship though.

Any age difference is acceptable. Who am I to say who others should and shouldn't be in love with?

I personally won't date anyone more than 7 or 8 years older than me. But that's my preference. Depends on the ages though.

As long as both are of legal age and happy then why should it ever be considered unacceptable? My personal preference would be no more than 10 years older than me. That's just what I prefer though, not what I consider acceptable for everyone else.

I mean, any difference in age is acceptable if you're into it. In my personal experience, it hasn't worked out too well, though... a lot of the older guys who have wanted to date me seemed to be looking for a relationship where they could be in control, and that's not for me.

I think that once you hit 21 or 22 and you are mature that any age difference is ok.

I think 7 years or up for teenagers is odd, but once you're in your 20s and 30s who you date is your own business. Mostly because a 17 year old is legally too young to date a 35 year old, but if its a reasonable difference, like 17 dating a 21 year old I don't think anyone should be bitching.

It really depends on what the age of each person is. A 6 year age difference is usually no big deal, but if a 19 year old is dating a 13 year old, that's a big issue. 23 and 29, not such a big deal.

PERSONALLY, i'd never date someone more than 12 or so years older than me. But for everyone else, I don't care

It's all acceptable as long as they are both adults and can relate to one another, have similar intentions, and it's not a power thing.
