Help! Kegel exerciser falling out!

Contributor: bayosgirl bayosgirl
I could swear I saw a section for kegel-related threads, but I couldn't find it? Oh well.

I am 29 weeks pregnant and am supposed to be doing kegels regularly-but have been slacking off. Just now I had decided to use my kegel exerciser for the first time in a couple of weeks. Imagine my surprise, when after lubing it up and putting it in, I stood up and it fell right out! I tried several more times, same thing..I even wiped the lube off thinking it might be "too slippery." No luck. I'm really shocked because I still feel tight when my husband and I have sex. Should I just buy a bigger kegel exerciser or what? My current one, the Emigi, is pretty small. And it fit me just fine until recently..

If your Emigi is falling out, it could be too heavy for you! You could still use it, but you'll have to be doing some strong clenching to keep it in (and it probably won't work for going out of the house). Definitely try something lighter and possibly larger, like the Teneo Uno or Duo, they're round and a bit on the big side so they shouldn't fall out as easy.

Everyone's anatomy is different too, and things down there can change during pregnancy. Try a different shape.

Is it the black 92 gram Emigi or the 72? It may just be too heavy or too uniform of a shape for you. But, really, this falling out is a good thing. You need to train your muscles to keep them in!

I would love it if I had that problem because I have no issue keeping any set in. I have to completely rely on the rumble of the inner beads to remind me to clench. If you're thinking you want an easier set, I'd recommend the Luna Beads Mini. That more separated shape might stay in you easier. Or, just go for the classic. Seriously, I wish I had that happen to me, so I'd really know I'm actually exercising like I'm supposed to.

Here's a link to my review of the Luna Beads. There's a comparison picture with a bunch of the most popular kegel balls: link

Use less lube? Your muscles are likely naturally stretching, which is exactly why your doc recommended kegels. Instead of standing up, do them sitting or lying down.

This was what I was going to mention.

This is was I was going to sugget too! Congrats on your pregancy!
When I was taking chilbirth classes our teacher recomended the kegelsisor. I dont think ef carries it anymore but the energie is very similar. I have it and recomend it. The only thing that has worked better for my is the intensity. It just might be time to switch from wearable ball type exersizers to something that will work well lying on your back.

I'd try a larger size until able to use the smaller one.

Thank you. DH and I are over the moon!

After researching a little more I did decide to buy the Energie. It sounds like it would be more effective since it's larger and heavier. I'll just stick to lying down until I've built up my muscles a little more, then I might alternate with the Emigi for convenience (so I can walk around and do other things.) Thanks again for the suggestion!
