What method of Birth Control do you use?

Contributor: MilitaryLove MilitaryLove
I am thinking about getting the implant (a tube in your arm that is good for 3 years). But I want to see what everyone else uses and why. Also, does anyone have any bad experiences with the implant?

We don't use any birth control because my Master had a vasectomy. I would use a condom if I had any poly partners but I haven't had any in years.

I used to take the Depo shot...used to. It made me gain between 20 lbs. I didn't even eat more or bad food btw and I exercised more...so idk why I gained all that weight. Other girls I knew said they gained 16 lbs, 40 lbs, and one girl said she gained ~60 lbs. You may be lucky and not put on weight from it though. Good luck.

** This was a fast weight gain too...like within a couple weeks, not over time**

Condoms only. I used to take the pill, but hormonal birth control doesn't really make me feel right anymore.

I use the pill and withdrawal. I've considered the implant but my insurance wouldn't cover it.

I've heard nothing but nightmares about Mirena, hormonal birth control, and everything else, so I stick to condoms.

Have you tried looking into it lately? Because of the Obama care and everything, most birth control is free. I would talk to your insurance and see!

I use bc pills that put off my period for 3 months at a time, they're pretty good for me. I had some trouble with cramps and headaches at first, but the side effects seem to have worn off by now.

Condoms for now. I tried the shot for 3 years, but I didn't like the side effects. So no hormones for me right now.

I have an IUD, that is good for 5 years. It's nice, but since it's a hormonal IUD (they have 10 year, non-hormonal ones), it can make me a little crazy sometimes. I mean PMS wise. I get a period once every 3 months or so. Light flow. Good luck, in whatever you choose!

I'm on pills right now but I might have to stop taking them... which I don't want to do but I might have to due to blood pressure issues. If they take me off of them I'll get a Mirena.

My girlfriend uses the Nuva ring as a method of BC. Because it is the lowest amount of hormones in it for her body ad helps her with the headache and migrane part. And she doesn't have a period from it as she removes the old one and puts a new one in the same day every 3 weeks! We use the condom once in awhile to prevent a mess. And I used to use condoms for safety with other partners!!

When we were younger, before we got married we use two forms of birth control. I was on the pill and we always used condoms. I was totally paranoid. Let's just say my family is filled with women who are all rather fertile, and so we took extra precautions. Once we were ready to start a family we used until the time was right and now after our daughter we use condoms again. My husband is thinking of getting a vasectomy.
