I also watched Orgasmic Childbirth in one my college courses. I'm a Human Development minor so it's not as weird as it sounds. Even the documentary states that it's pretty rare and really only occurs with natural childbirths.

Of our 5 births, 3 of them were orgasmic. All were home births with midwife.

I've seen a video documentary of this phenomenon. I recall watching one woman this had happened to with all of her births. I saw her going through labor in a pool of water while she just kept having orgasms. These weren't the kind of sexual activity type orgasms. She was tired & would just close her eyes & let them roll through her; it seemed very natural. I believe it & I don't think it's a sexual thing, it's more a physiological response beyond their control. It doesn't bother me at all & I figure people are wired differently, lucky them!
The person who thought the mother was using the baby to orgasm -- I find that an odd view to take; something about the process of childbirth caused the orgasm, not the baby & not the woman getting off. It's a side effect, if you will, of childbirth for them & completely involuntary & nonsexual!

I've never heard of this before but I guess I can see how it'd happen. I didn't have one during childbirth and I'm glad I didn't because for me it would be too embarrassing.

If I had one, I was too busy feeling like I was being ripped in half to notice! Certainly no "feel good" hormones kicked in for me!! But I have heard of them, and seen them in documentaries/videos.. .but labor and birth was anything but pleasurable for me.

Frankly that sounds pretty gross. I'm one that sees pain and pleasure as two completely different things and having my genitals stretched out to the size of a softball would not be anywhere near pleasurable for me.

I've heard of that before but I thought it was only with natural child birth and not when you're on any kind of medication. I could be wrong about that though. It's wild to think about that happening but I guess it's all about how you are thinking going into the birth, if you have negative ideas than it's not going to be fun at all.
