Sleeping with a tampon?

Contributor: Ahatmadeofshoes12 Ahatmadeofshoes12
I've been wearing tampons and only tampons (I never use pads) since I was 12. Never had any issues from sleeping while wearing a tampon.

I'm never really worried about sleeping with one in, I'll put in a new one before bed.

I used to do it all the time, ignoring the risk of TSS. Nowadays I'm safer and happier with my menstrual cup

I don't really wear tampons, but if I do, I don't care about the risk of sleeping with it in.

I prefer to use pads when I sleep, but usually my flow is light enough to not even need them.

Yup.

I am an odd one. I seem to wake in the middle of the night when I am on my period to go to the bathroom and change my tampon. This is one of the rare times it is good to be a sleep walker.

For some reason my body naturally regulates so that I bleed less at night. No idea why, but it prevents TSS from setting in, which I know does impact me during the day if I wear a tampon for too long. I really want to try a menstrual cup! Green and money saver, I am practically sold on the idea.

In the 9th grade in high school my maxi pad leaked so bad that my mom had to put a towel down in the car for me to sit on, since then I swore never to wear one again. I hate it, it's like wearing a big wet nasty bloody diaper. Tampons are my best friends and I've never been scared of TSS, since my flow is so heavy I have to change them a lot any way. I have tried softcup disposables too but tampons are easier and cleaner.

TSS takes longer to occur than just one night, doesn't it? wearing one during the day is roughly the same length of time. just put in a new one before you go to bed. what's wrong with that?

Sometimes I would forget I had one in and would fall asleep but other than that I don't. I tend to sleep long periods of time

I sleep with one in and set an alarm to get up in the middle of the night to change it.

I don't usually sleep for very long, so it doesn't concern me to wear it during sleep.

Always Infinity pads are amazing for those of us with heavy flows. I have has TSS and never use a tampon anymore. If you are prone to UTI's be very careful about wearing tampons for longer than is recommended as well.

I sleep with either a tampon in, or one of those SoftCups. I can't stand wearing pads..

When I used to use tampons, I slept with them all the time. It's rare for me to get more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep at a time, so no issues.

I am really grossed out by pads. Considering I never sleep more than 6-7 hours these days, I just go ahead and put a fresh tampon in before bed and take it out in the morning.

I rarely use tampons but I'd never sleep in one. I only leave them in for four hours because I use the smallest size.

I have before. But I have never heard of TSS....Maybe I should look into that?

The problem is I have heavy flow and I easily go through pads while I sleep.

Never. I went to school with a girl who almost died from TSS, so I won't take that risk.
