Foods that make your downstairs smell bad..

Contributor: sweetpea12 sweetpea12
I was recently talking to a friend and they said that drinking coffee and eating some other foods make your vagina taste and smell bad. Is this true? How much does it effect the taste and smell? Does anyone avoid these foods?

Asparagus makes my pee quite fragrant. I have no idea if it makes other things smell. Haha. But I don't avoid it, I love a creamed asparagus soup I make every spring.

I've never noticed ANY change from drinking coffee, either in myself or my female partner. That's a new one on me.

I think the coffee thing has to be a myth.

I think that it changes more from hormones, not food.

I've never noticed my vagina tasting bad depending on what I consumed. Like Kissy said, I think it depends on hormones/time of month, etc.

A balanced diet helps maintain a healthy vaginal PH level, so diet can change the way it taste. (It's the same for semen.) The things to avoid are caffeine, alcohol, spices, garlic, onions, asparagus, processed meats and many more items. If you want your juices to taste better the number one recommended thing is fresh pineapple juice. (Same for guys.)

Interesting about the pineapple juice. Shame I don't like pineapple.

I've heard of cheeses being bad for smell, along with a few other things, but I don't avoid them.

Personally for me, garlic in large amounts can occasionally cause an issue.

I love onions and spicy food and I am not going to give them-or any food I like-up just for a pristine-smelling vagina! I wash it once or twice a day and that's enough for me. lol.

For me, I definitely notice that my vag tastes/smells like coffee if I've recently had a latte, and it also tastes/smells a lot sweeter if I'm eating fresh fruit often, especially pineapple and strawberries.

I've noticed the coffee smell with urine, asparagus too. Sometimes we associate smell to taste, it's hard to tell them apart.

I don't avoid eating anything, but I definitely hate the smell if I eat a bunch of garlic or asparagus (and I love both.)

What you eat very much effects what your body excretes! I don't know how people think this is fake, where do you think the chemicals and compounds in your food go? Onions, garlic, asparagus, pineapples, all sorts of foods will definitely effect your taste. I've even heard of people who could tell when their partner had been smoking/eating pot by their taste a day later. We don't avoid any foods for this reason alone, but we have tried certain things to make ourselves taste better.

Instant coffee does for certain makes me taste well... gross. I find that Nescafe is the worst offender. Real coffee I've never noticed a difference.

I have found that when I eat more processed foods or packaged foods, I taste worse, but when I return to my regular diet of hardly any packaged foods I taste amazing! If I know for certain that the man I am with has a heavy meat diet, I have been known to refuse to go down on him.
