Have reviews on toys on your wish list ever made you change your mind about it?

Contributor: wrecklesswords wrecklesswords
Today, I decided to go through some of my wish lists and read ALL the reviews posted for some of the toys. After reading reviews for one of the toys I was very excited about, I completely took it off my wish list because while the reviews weren't bad, I discovered through the reviews that it has a rather pungent smell.

Have any reviews you've read made you delete a toy from your wish list before? Or have the reviews made you want it even more?

Yes, but usually only if multiple users found some horrible design flaw.

Yeah, I really, really wanted the Form 2 until I read about everyone experiencing the glitch. I still kind of want to try it out, but it's not as high up on my list.

I've taken a few off my list based on bad reviews. I also look at personal experience in reviews from people who like power. If someone who says they like power rates it three vrooms but someone who doesn't say that rates it four, I go based on the three and might take it off.

I need to see at least a few bad reviews though before I won't give something a shot.

All the time! I base nearly all my purchases, toys, appliances, computers, even restaurants we've never been to, on reviews. I do not bother with items that are continually glitchy or food that is mediocre , but if something gets awesome reviews, I am there and sometimes am willing to pay a bit more for a quality item or experience.

I've definitely been influenced by bad reviews. That is the main reason I read them - to make sure I don't waste my money on something terrible. It just depends on why someone gives it a negative review. If it is one person saying it just doesn't fit with their anatomy I might give it a try, but if most of the reviews say it is terrible quality, glitchy, or has a terrible smell then I will remove if from the wish list.

I may occasionally bump something up or off my list, based on reviews.

it's never really made me take it off my wishlist, but it has made me think.

I've had the Layaspot on my wishlist for a while, but I keep reading negative reviews so I haven't bought it yet.

Absolutely. I do a lot of review reading and then think long and hard about both the pros and cons of a product before I buy it, and if there are too many cons then clearly it'll never get the go-ahead and might get bumped off the wish-list altogether.

I agree. If it's just one or two bad reviews out of a lot of good or neutral ones, then I won't bump it off, but if it's mostly bad, then I will.

Definitely! The reviews are what brought me here in the first place. So if it looks like a toy won't work for me, or that many people weren't that crazy about it, I won't buy it.

Major yes. One bad review isn't enough, but if lots of people notice the same thing then I get very wary. A good example is the smell of Doc Johnson PVC cocks. Not exactly the kind of thing you can learn from a product description. Saved me some cash.

Yep, definitely. But like others have said, 1 bad review won't necessarily spoil my desire for the toy - it will depend on why they didn't like it. And some toys get majorly rave reviews and still don't work with my anatomy, but trial and error can be so fun!

Yes, I have decided I don't want something after I've seen several negative reviews on a toy. I normally wait until several reviews are posted before buying something.

There have definitely been some things I was super excited about only to read multiple reviews and realize that there was no way it was going to work for me, so off the wishlist it went.

I too usually wait for multiple reviews on an item before I decide whether or not to buy it. If more than one person complains about a particular "issue" with the item (that I think might apply to my use as well) then I take it off my list.

Yes, but I usually check all the reviews before adding an item to my wish list.

I've had that happen a couple times. Especially when people say things like cuffs being small or something. But most of the time I just go in blindly and try things. Funnest way to do it.

Yes, but rarely. I look at every aspect of a toy before I put it on my wish list, so my opinion of it rarely changes.

Absolutely! The things that are revealed by reviewers (like bad smells, uber buzzy vibrations, glitchy controls, etc) have made us ditch several items off of our list. Reviews have also made us add a few things that we might not have otherwise been interested in.
