How did you get your first sex toy, and what was it?

I think it may have been because of how old my ex looked. Plus they had their stuff removed so no doubts they didn't work to code on that stuff more times than just for me hah.

While I've had a fascination with sex toys for years now, I haven't really been able to get into growing my collection until recently and this new freedom I have has made me really want to explore every facet of my interest in adult toys.

What I'm wondering at the moment is if other people's experiences are similar to my own, particularly how you first got into sex toys, ie your experience getting your first toy. Did you buy it yourself or was it a gift? Where did you get it from? What sort of toy was it and how was your first experience using your first sex toy? less

As I'm the one asking the question it's only fair for me to answer first!

I was 15-16 at the time and had had a growing interest in exploring my sexuality for a year or two before that. I made the most from household objects, such as a shower faucet for the running water and hairbrush handles, but they weren't enough. So I plotted how to get my hands on an actual sex toy, using saved up birthday and Christmas money, without getting caught from my parents.

And then a solution to all my problems appeared in the form of Spencer's Gifts at our local mall and their "novelty gift" toys. I could go out and look around the mall, or go to the movies in the area and then swing by afterwards, without causing any sort of suspicion, and the bag I carried for my money was the perfect size to conceal any secret purchases I might make while I was out.

Entering the back of the store for the first time was an incredibly embarrassing feeling for me. I was extremely self conscious about being seen there and waved off any employees asking if I needed help as quickly as I possibly could. Eventually I decided on the Purple Pleasure Wave 8" Vibe with Rhinestones, a toy I still have to this day. I quickly made my purchase at the counter, relieved not to get any questions from the cashier, and tucked it into my bag before heading off to find batteries for it and go home.

Then I had to play the waiting game for everyone to be out of the house so I could test out these new vibrations without fear of getting heard. And when the time came - wow. Just, wow. Compared to other toys, it's certainly nothing special, but as it was my first time using a vibrator I recall being blown away (and squirting for the first time as a result).

The embarrassment of going into the store and fear of getting caught with the toy at home aside, getting my first toy was a wonderful experience! I only wish it was easier for girls wanting to explore their growing sexual urges to get their hands on a quality sex toy so they don't potentially harm themselves with homemade toys. less
