Gaudy As Gaudy Gets

The gaudiest of bling bling for the cheapest of cheap...will get you exactly what you pay for. This ring doesn't stay closed, doesn't seem safe to rink from, and isn't even the color pictured here. Oh, and the sizing is very small.

INTRO:

I have two friends with bachelorette parties to plan for so I decided to get this ring as one of the many things to add to the silliness of my past roommates night out before her wedding. I am glad I am getting these things in advance. This ring doesn't look as cool as it does in the picture, and is the worst one size fits most I have ever encountered.

MATERIAL:

The ring is made of plastic covered in shiny paint that will quickly wear off. The huge diamond is made of fairly sturdy plastic. I would not want to be doing shots out of this though. The plastic seems cheap and unsafe to be doing highly alcoholic shots out of. Also, the coloring is off. In the picture it looks like a clear baby blue color with shine. It actually is dull and opaque, dirty looking, and light sea foam green.

DESIGN:

The diamond is 1 3/4" across the top of the "gem" and 1 1/2" tall (excluding the attached ring). The top portion opens so you can pour a small shot into the hollow plastic gem. It opens easily...the first time and stays open. I never got it to stay closed again.

FIT:

The gem is attached to the ring which has an opening at the base because it is supposed to be one size fits most. Well, it really isn't. The ring itself is small and barely fits my size 6 ½-ish ring finger. The gal I bought this for has much larger fingers and there is no way she would be able to wear this on her ring finger. I'm not even sure it would fit her pinky without pinching. The space at the base of ring allows it to open a bit, but if you put it on a finger that is too big, the plastic pinches and looks like it will break easily.

PACKAGING/CARE:

The ring comes in a small plastic bag stapled to a cardboard piece. It has a small illustrated image of a bride to be on the front with the product name. On the back are the unnecessary instructions. I honestly don't know what the safest way would be to clean this. I wouldn't use it as a shot glass if it were me, so it wouldn't need cleaning. I won't be using this for either party though, so my storage is the trash can.
Follow-up commentary
After having plans to throw this out, I decided to keep it for the Bridal shower.
I filled the inside of the "shot" with glitter and sequence. I put a big "M" on the top with a glittery foam sticker on top (first letter of her name). I super glued the top down. The bride to be wore it at her party and didn't even know it was supposed to do anything else. She had to wear it on her pinky finger though-as suspected. So, I guess it wasn't a total loss.
