Anal retriever - butt plug discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by glassdoll

The larger size of the Anal Retriever was a bit intimidating to pull out of the box. Having done some anal, I was had decided that playing with the larger plug would be fine. This toy is designed for anal use although it can certainly be used vaginally. The plug has a base wide enough to not worry about using it anally along with a string that seems to provide simply back up. Tugging hard on the string did cause it to pull out of the jelly material though. A condom does need to be used when playing with this toy and lots of lube if playing with it anally. I recommend this toy to be played with during sex or solo play and probably not to be worn outside of the bedroom for extended periods of time except by those who are more experienced.

This toy has an odor. It's made out of jelly which I'm not familiar with so I was surprised at the smell. It just reeked until I started handling it and coating it with lube and a condom. Now that I've played with it a few times, the smell is not as prominent. The material is, as I said, jelly. It is squishy to the touch. Also, it collects things like lint and hairs which are easily washed off with warm soap and water but annoying to do so in the middle of sex. The string appears as if it was looped down into the mold and dried inside of the plug. Playing with it led to the string come out slightly from the base so I would not rely on the string as a way to remove it from your body.

The Anal Retriever has the classic anal plug design. The 2" toy was a bit wider than I can personally hand as I found out. It took several play times to be able to take the toy completely and even then, it was too much. I do not think that the 2" plug is a good thing for many beginners to start out with and this is for someone who has more experience with anal plugs and anal sex. This toy is not discreet. It does not come with a pouch or anything to hide it in. It obviously looks like an anal plug. I imagine if you had no qualms about airport security going through your things, you could travel with it easily. Personally, I'm leaving it at home when I visit my mother.

What I did like about this toy was the large base that my partner could grip easily to control the depth and speed of how fast the toy entered my body. I have only used one anal plug before which slid in much too fast for my preference. This plug is very easy to control during both insertion and removal. Again, the size was too much for me personally. Also, the material was a turn off and collects too much lint to be a grab out of the toy box and use kind of toy. It doesn't use any batteries since it doesn't vibrate, which is nice since I can save all those double AAs for a toy I like better. All in all, I think this toy may get packed away for a little bit until I feel more comfortable about playing with such a large plug.

This toy needs to be at least rinsed off before use and a condom and plenty of lube to be used with it during play because of the material. It's fairly low maintenance (no batteries to replace) and easy to store. Stick it on a shelf or toss it back in the box it comes in. Water based lubes are a great thing to used with this plug.
