A Tool of the Trade

The Titanmen Anal Douche is a great utility for both men and women looking for something new in anal preparation. It's easy to use and easy to clean. The bulb holds a desirable amount of water, and the nozzle is small enough to easily insert. Although the TPR nozzle isn't completely sterilizable, it serves well for personal use. Anal users who are sometimes frustrated with some of the problems associated with backdoor play can find some relief with the use of this utility.

Use

The Titanmen Anal Douche by Doc Johnson is a rubber douche with a narrow thermoplastic nozzle for easy insertion. It is meant for rinsing out the anal and rectal cavities of unwanted waste prior to butt play. Although it is marketed under the Titanmen name, which is a popular gay pornographic studio, this anal douche can be used by anyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Also, since the smooth nozzle is easily accommodated, it's great for beginners and advanced users alike. This is an excellent tool for anal users who are frustrated with some of the waste encountered while masturbating anally or having anal sex. A simple cleaning with the Titanmen Anal Douche can eliminate nearly all the waste in the anorectal region, ensuring a smooth, clean anal session. However, it is not mandatory to use an anal douche prior to butt play, and it is not recommended to use a douche too often.

Since the Titanmen Anal Douche comes in two pieces—the nozzle and the bulb—it's very travel-friendly if you're planning an anal escapade by yourself or with a partner somewhere else. Simply screw the nozzle into the bulb and you're ready to go! In addition, it should go without saying that douching should be done in or near a bathroom.

Material / Texture

As I mentioned before, the nozzle is constructed out of thermoplastic rubber, or TPR, and the bulb itself is made out of rubber. TPR is an excellent material for a product like this because it is not as porous as rubber or cyberskin, but it is more porous than silicone, the best nonporous material for sex toys. The TPR nozzle is soft and flexible, yet firm. It feels smooth and comfortable when inserted. The nozzle isn't as flexible as silicone. It definitely feels harder than most silicone toys, but it is easily accommodated in the rear.

The nozzle also features a ribbed pattern around the top half that "fades" out near the bottom half. This was the one thing I did not like about the nozzle. I prefer my toys to be completely free of texture and ridges, and while the ribbed pattern is smooth and not like a ridge or a bump, it still is an unwanted feature, in my opinion. I'm certain that many people who like even just a little bit of texture on their anal toys will no doubt like this, too, and will receive pleasurable stimulation. It wasn't a big problem, only a minor issue. Also, considering how thin the nozzle is, it shouldn't pose much of a problem at all, especially if your butt is warmed up.

While the nozzle has only a light scent of rubber, the rubber bulb itself is a different story. The bulb possesses a strong rubber smell, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It isn't nauseatingly bad. It's simply a well-defined scent. Personally, the smell of rubber like this turns me on, since some of my first dildos were made of rubber. I think that since the bulb and the nozzle are packaged closely together, the nozzle retains a lot of the rubbery scent. Washing the two pieces didn't necessarily eliminate the smell entirely, but I really don't think the scent is a problem.

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the Titanmen Anal Douche is excellent. The nozzle is slightly curved, allowing it to be easily inserted all the way inside. At the tip of the nozzle is a hole, roughly 3 to 4mm in diameter. I was surprised that the hole proved to be somewhat uncomfortable when inserting. Perhaps if the hole was a little smaller it would not have been as noticeable. If a thick water-based lube is used, this shouldn't be an issue. In regards to size, the nozzle is 5/8 of an inch in diameter (or .63 in) with 5 inches of it insertable. The bulb is actually quite large in person, holding up to 8 fl oz of fluid (the picture online makes it appear smaller). This douche is very easy to use by yourself. Nearly anyone with any sort of anal experience should be able to accommodate the narrow nozzle.

Since this is an anal douche, it most definitely is not discreet. It is entirely black, giving it a bold, masculine look. The nozzle has a thin seam running through two sides, an apparent manufacturing effect. While I wish this wasn't present, it didn't seem to pose a problem when inside. Using enough lube should allow you to insert the nozzle comfortably.

Performance

In order to use this douche, the bulb must be filled with warm water. Make sure the water isn't hot or cold. It has to be just right. Once the bulb is filled, screw the nozzle into the bulb, apply lube to the nozzle, and insert slowly. Once inserted, slowly squeeze the bulb. You don't have to use all of the water in the bulb, and if you wish you can douche multiple times. The idea is to douche until only clean, clear water is released. You don't have to do it to this extent if you don't wish to.

Since I've never used an anal douche before, I didn't really have much to compare it to. While I prefer toys without texture, the ribbing pattern on the nozzle didn't prove to be a huge issue. After all, this tool is meant for inserting in your butt, squeezing the bulb, and removing it. It isn't really meant for thrusting or even achieving orgasm, though you can use it for those reasons if you wish (I actually did that once). Quite simply, the nozzle is inserted easily, and the bulb can hold plenty of water and get the job done.

Care and Maintenance

It's actually quite easy taking care of this douche and cleaning it up. Since TPR and rubber cannot be disinfected (do not boil) like silicone can, washing it with hot water and antibacterial soap or toy cleaner is the best way to clean it. Rinsing the inside of the nozzle with running water will wash out everything. Scrubbing it and using friction will make sure your douche is squeaky clean for future use. The bulb itself doesn't really get dirty since nothing except water goes in, but you can rinse the inside of the bulb with hot water and soap if you wish. Also, remember since the douche isn't entirely sterilizable, it is not recommended you share it with partners.

Storing the Titanmen Anal Douche is as easy as storing your other toys. Simply unscrew the nozzle from the bulb and keep them wherever you wish. For now I'm keeping mine in the small box it came in, but I plan on disposing of the box and storing the douche in a large Ziploc bag inside my toy box. Before storing your douche, make sure you leave it out for a few minutes to let it dry a bit.

Regarding lube, any silicone-based lube or water-based lube can be used. Although I did try inserting the nozzle with solely silicone lube, there was too much friction and resistance present, something that any thick water-based lube can prevent. As always, I highly recommend using Maximus or Cal Exotics Anal Lube instead.

Packaging

The packaging is great. It's small and easy to open. On the box it states "Doc Johnson Titanmen Tools Anal Douche," so I don't recommend opening the package in front of other people. This also makes it unideal for permanent storage, unless you have enough room to store it with the box. Inside, you'll find the two pieces of the douche—the nozzle and the bulb—shrinkwrapped together. You'll also find a small packet of Titanmen Titanium silicone lube, which is good for one use. There are no instructions included anywhere in the packaging.
