I love this toy because it is one of the most versatile I own, I wasn't sure how I would feel about glass at first so I got a toy that can do everything. I think most beginners would appreciate that if they don't like this toy one way, there are other options to explore.

First of all this toy is fantastic either vaginally or anally, I would only suggest that if you are sharing between orifices be sure to sterilize it thoroughly in between.

When using the toy vaginally it can be inserted with the thinner end, using the bulbous base as a handle, to experiment with the texture, but I find it is a tad too thin this way. You can also insert the rounded end first which works great for G-spotting, this happens to be my personal favorite way to use this toy.
When using it anally I would only recommend using it with the bulbous handle outside your body as an anchor stopping it from slipping inside, plus the texture feels great for thrusting. The diameter is a moderate one so I use it for a good warm up toy.

I would recommend being very careful using this toy with a partner because the glass is so firm. It is possible to thrust too hard or too deep (even on your own) and bruise yourself internally, this is particularly easy for a partner to do because they cannot feel it themselves, so if you do use glass with a partner communication is key.

Since this toy is glass, it is also great for temperature play, meaning that it will hold temperatures throughout your session to create unique sensations. To do this simply soak the toy in a bowl of warm or cool water for 2-5 min, it will then hold the temperature for most of your play session. Before you use a heated or cooled glass toy on any sensitive areas check to make sure it isn't too hot or cold by putting it against your lips or inside of your wrist. NEVER microwave your toy as it is likely to heat the toy unevenly leaving dangerous hotspots. If you choose not to heat it this way the toy will feel mildly cool to start with but will quickly warm up to you. It's also really nice to warm the toy and use the bulbous end to massage out tight muscles (somewhat akin to a hot stone massage).

Since it does not vibrate it can be used discreetly anywhere, including in the shower, but I would caution you that it becomes very slippery when wet and could easily be dropped and broken.

Glass is a very interesting material in dildos that many people are afraid to experiment with. Personally I feel that glass toys are some of the most beautiful out there, and many companies, including Icicles, hand craft their glass toys making them each a unique work of art. Unfortunately this makes these toys very expensive, and not the best to experiment with, Icicles No. 1 on the other hand is perfect for just that. With its low price point and versatility this toy gives you a great opportunity to experiment with glass in a variety of ways before spending more money on a specialized toy that you know you will enjoy.

Glass is rated a ten on Eden's safety scale as it is non-porous and can be boiled to be totally sanitized. It is also Phthalates free and hypo-allergenic. As always, glass is distinctly lacking any taste or smell.
Many people are worried about breakage when they hear about glass toys but to be honest it shouldn't be a concern. The glass is not hollow but instead a solid mass and as a result it is actually quite durable. It is possible to chip it by hitting it against a hard counter or dropping it on the ground but as long as you store it in a soft bag or case when it is not in use it should be very safe. If you ever notice and chips or cracks in the toy you should discontinue use immediately.

Glass itself is a very firm material with no give at all so it is important to be very careful during use. It is also a smooth material with almost no drag. This toy has a small raised spiral down the body of the toy which provides a subtle yet distinct texture during use.

Icicles No. 1 is a long but relatively thin toy so it will work well for both beginners and advanced users alike. It measures about 9in long including the 1.25 inch bulbous handle, and about 3.25 inches in circumference. The texture on this toy very simple consisting only of a raised (about .25in) swirl down the duration of the shaft.



The swirls create a very interesting and pleasurable sensation during slow thrusting but vaginally I prefer to use this toy by inserting the handle and using it to stimulate my G-spot. Although this toy is not realistic looking, and it is pretty clear what it is used for, it is easily transported for travel though in a small protective pouch or its own packaging.

I find the texture is most pronounced on this toy when I use it anally, and since it is so thin it makes for a great warm up between a small plug and my partner. The length of this toy means I can insert it further than I am used to but be very careful when thrusting so as to not bruise yourself internally. The first time I used it anally I thrust very slowly, probing and exploring the most comfortable ways to penetrate myself and even so I felt somewhat sore afterwards due to the firmness of the toy.

Vaginally the toy is too thin for me unless I use the bulbous end. When I insert the handle it's like it has a homing device bringing it right to my g-spot. For someone just learning about their g-spot it is best to have a firm toy that can rub hard against it rather than a softer material that might bend and it doesn't get any firmer than glass!
One of the most unique things about glass is it's ability to hold temperature for a good length of time. To heat or cool simply run it under warm or cool water, or even leave a bowl of ice water next to the bed (the ice cubes could also be used for an interesting all over body massage or on the nipples for some summer fun). NEVER boil, freeze or microwave the toy, this will make it way too hot or cold and could leave dangerous hot spots and where this Icicle is going is definitely not somewhere you want to burn.

Glass is a very easy material to take care of, after each use simply wash it with warm soap and water, paying special care to the area around the raised spiral as gunk tends to collect there. If sharing between partners or orifices it is best to boil it for 3-5 minutes or run it through the dishwasher on the top shelf. Alternatively you could also place a condom on it to protect it but this will diminish the prominence of the texture.

Glass is compatible with all types of lubricant and even though it is so smooth I still recommend slathering on the lube if you are planning on using it anally.

The box this toy comes in makes for a great storage option as it is heavily padded but you could also use a storage bag or even an old sock but be sure to put some level of protection over it so as to be sure it doesn't get scratched or chipped.

The packaging of this toy was phenomenal, but unfortunately as I purchased it in the beginnings of my exploration of adult toys I made the mistake of throwing it away so I have no photographs to show you. FemmeFlo does have some great pictures in her review though. It comes in a hard cardboard box with a picture of the toy on the front. The front panel then opens to display the toy itself surrounded with protective foam padding. It would have made for a wonderful storage option because unfortunately this toy does not come with a pouch. I made my own small bag and threw away the box because it was rather bulky but now that my collection has grown and I have more room to store it I wish I had kept the box to display this glass toy as it deserves.

I purchased this toy as my first glass toy because I love the versatility of it---I could use it vaginally or anally and even for g-spotting so I would be able to experiment with it in many different ways and see how I liked glass best, then buy a more specialized toy for that alone. The only thing I didn't like about this toy is that it was so simple. I have fallen in love with the swirls of color in many other glass toys but at the time, and the store I had gone to, I couldn't afford anything so extravagant. This toy is beautiful in its own right, but I just wish it had more color to it.

I would recommend this toy to other newcomers to the glass world because it is not overly girthy so the texture and firmness of the toy should be somewhat non-intimidating. So far this is the only glass toy I own but I am looking forward to purchasing more.
