An Introduction Indeed

The Intro to Anal kit is a good first step into the world of anal sex. The DVD in particular is wonderful. However, this kit is intended as an introduction and realize when you purchase it, that that is all it is. If you enjoy the elements of anal sex enough to continue, you will likely choose invest in higher quality toys soon after.

Use

The Intro to Anal Sex kit, as the name implies, is indeed an introduction for those who are new to anal sex. This kit has all the basic elements needed to experiment anally, including an anal vibrator with an enhancer, a set of anal beads, a tube of anal lube, a bottle of sex toy cleaner, and an instructional DVD entitled "Dr. Ava's Guide to Anal Sex for Women". The toys included are not of the highest quality, but are rather intended as a cost effective option to aid in trying out some of the most popular types of anal stimulation.

I think that this set would work well for anyone who is new to anal sex. I would not recommend this kit to those already well versed in anal sex, as they will most likely be disappointed at the quality of the toys included and will be aware of most of the information the DVD has to offer. Speaking of the DVD, you can tell from the title that it is intended for a female audience. Moreover, it is intended for a heterosexual couple, as the positions are modeled and described this way. However, in my opinion, the vast majority of the information included is easily adaptable for any couple. 90% of the information focuses on the anus, and as we all know, everyone has one. Some of the information offered will also be useful for solo play, but understand that the DVD is mainly couple oriented. Obviously, all the toys could be used solo or with a partner. The only other factor regarding the DVD is that it does have hardcore pornographic scenes and a lot of them. If you are a person who prefers not to watch a man having anal sex with a woman partner, this DVD is not for you.

Material / Texture

The vibrator and beads are both made of plastic. The vibrator enhancer is made of 100% silicone. These materials are non-porous, phthalate free, latex free, and easy to clean. The vibrator is smooth and rigid. The vibrator enhancer, on the other hand, is smooth but has some give in it. The anal beads do have some bend in between each individual bead, but are otherwise very hard and rigid. There is a seam down the beads which can be uncomfortable during initial insertion. It is helpful to use a finger to guide the first bead in, along with a lot of lubricant. Any type of anal lubricant will be compatible with the beads. The vibrator enhancer, however, requires water-based lubricant only. Therefore, if you plan to use all the items in one session, an anal water-based lubricant will be desirable, such as the lubricant included in the kit. There is no smell to the vibrator or enhancer, but there is a plastic scent to the beads. It is not overwhelming and should not be disruptive to play. There is no taste to any of these products.

Design / Shape / Size

Anal Beads: Measures 13" in length. There are 10 beads in total with widths ranging from 0.25" to 1". There are two beads of every size. The anal beads weigh 1.8 oz. They are curved for g-spot stimulation (through the thin vaginal wall). They are equipped with a large ring on the end for safe and easy retrieval.

Vibrator: Measures 4.5" total length with 3.25" insertable length. Width is 0.75-1" with a circumference of 3" at the widest part. The vibrator weights 2 oz. with a battery inserted. The small, slim size is ideal for beginners. The vibrator is tapered to help the user insert it comfortably. The thinner neck portion after the taper aids the vibrator to stay in place during play. This vibrator is not safe for anal play unless used with the accompanying enhancer. There are ridges at the base of the vibrator to assist in keeping the enhancer in place.

Vibrator Enhancer: Measures 2.5 x 1.5" and weighs 0.6 oz. This stopper will give the vibrator the proper flared base for anal play, stopping it from becoming lost up inside you. In addition to being used with the vibrator in the kit, this enhancer will also work with other 1" diameter toys.

Anal Lube: Labeled as Zero Tolerance Water Based Medium Density Anal Lube. It comes in a plastic applicator tube. There is no amount of ounces printed on it, but on my scale it weighs about 0.2 oz. Ingredients are as follows: glycerin, purified water, sodium carboxymethyl, cellulose, propyl paraben, and methyl paraben. As you can see, there are questionable ingredients such as glycerin and parabens in this lube. Some users may experience a sensitivity issue.

Toy Cleaner: Labeled as Zero Tolerance "The Cleaner" Misting Masturbator and Toy Cleaner. This comes in a 5" tall plastic spray bottle with cap. It has 1 oz. or 30 mL of product. Ingredients are as follows: purified water, propylene glycol, cocamidopropyl betaine, benzalkonium chloride, zinc gluconate, phenoxyethanol, and citric acid. The cleaner is antibacterial and safe for all materials.

DVD: The feature presentation is approximately 90 minutes in length. There is also a one minute introduction to the video and a 10 minute segment on of the other Evolved Toys following the feature. I have included a picture below of the chapters on the DVD as well as the subchapters under the Basic and Advanced categories. The Interview portion of the DVD (8 minutes) involves the two real couples later demonstrating the techniques. The questions presented and answered: what they like about anal sex, advice for first timers, how they like to prepare for anal sex, their favorite anal sex toy, their favorite anal sex position, orgasms from anal sex, how often they have anal sex, how long they have been having anal sex, and analingus. The Basic Techniques (43 minutes) cover cleanliness, anal foreplay, use of the toys included in the kit, and the basic positions for anal sex. The Advanced Techniques (40 minutes) cover performing analingus, positions for analingus, and more advanced anal sex positions.

Performance

Anal Beads: The stiff plastic design to these beads was uncomfortable upon insertion. I was also able to feel the seam of the plastic on the tip of the first bead. The DVD mentioned that there would be g-spot stimulation around the length of the 4th or 5th bead, but I did not experience this.

Vibrator: The slim width of this vibrator was comfortable for me as a beginner. The length of the vibrator was very easy to insert but did not allow much room for any thrusting. For this reason, another inch or so would've been nice. The shape of the vibrator was easy to insert and stayed in place well. However, I also own a silicone anal toy, which is more comfortable a material than the hard plastic on this one. Still, the vibrator was far more comfortable for me than the beads. This toy is difficult to use while inserted. The power and strength are controlled by rotating the base of the vibrator. When I tried to adjust it, the whole vibrator kept turning instead of just the base. I had to turn the vibrator on and then insert it. This made the strength unadjustable during use but I only used it on full power anyway. I was actually a little disappointed in the strength of the vibrator, which I would say is a little on the weaker side, about 3 out of 5 vrooms. The vibrator was quiet enough for discretion, about the same noise level as a cell phone.

Vibrator Enhancer: Not too much to discuss here. The enhancer was comfortable against my skin and stayed in place perfectly, perhaps due to the ridges on the toy included. I have not yet tested it on alternative vibrators.

Anal Lube: This lube was too thin for my taste. It will run almost immediately after being applied unless it is rubbed in. Once rubbed it, it forms a thin greasy film. While the lube was sufficient for trying all the toys in this kit, I will definitely use a different anal lube for subsequent play sessions as I prefer my anal lubricants to be layered on thick. I had to apply this lube very liberally to get results, as did the couples on the DVD. A picture showing the consistency of the lube is included below.

Toy Cleaner: The toy cleaner was also quite thin. I applied this product liberally to get results as well. I do like its antibacterial properties, so I will most likely use the bottle up, but I probably won’t buy any more.

DVD: The DVD was my favorite part of the kit. It was very thorough and discussed preparation of both the mind and body for anal sex. The couples used were attractive but still seemed like everyday people. I liked the varieties of positions shown and personally, I also enjoyed the pornographic demonstrations. I was definitely aroused by watching a couple that enjoyed anal sex so much and it got me in the mood for experimentation of my own.

Care and Maintenance

Plastic and silicone materials are both easily cleaned with either toy cleaner or antibacterial hand soap and water. The anal beads do take a little more attention to detail during cleaning. There are a lot of spots around the beads that can get bodily fluids on them, so take your time and make sure to cleanse each one thoroughly. The vibrator is not waterproof, so do not emerge it during cleaning. The picture below shows the vibrator sprayed with the toy cleaner included in the kit. The vibrator operates on a single AA battery. The bottom screws off to expose the battery compartment as shown. The vibrator enhancer should not be stored next to other silicone items as they will chemically react to each other. I just place it in a plastic baggie before storing it in my toy box. As I mentioned before, silicone items should only be used with a water based lube. If you are using the plastic anal beads alone or just the vibrator without the enhancer (for a use other than anal), a water based or silicone based lube may be used.

Packaging

This kit arrives in a colorful cardboard box with the product name and items included listed on front and further product details listed on the back. The package is clearly listed as an anal kit on every single side of the box, so will not qualify as discreet. The anal beads and vibrator will arrive sealed in a plastic bag. The toy cleaner is plastic wrapped as well. The lubricant tube is sealed until the tip is cut open. The DVD arrives in a simple paper sleeve. Please refer to the pictures below.

Experience

The first time I tried the products in this kit, it was a very uncomfortable experience. I was so excited to get this kit, that when it arrived (after snapping a few quick pictures of the packaging), I impulsively tossed the DVD aside and went right for the toys. In hindsight, this was a mistake. The anal beads scratched me and felt like a plastic sword inside of me. The vibrator only irritated my anus further. I was quite discouraged to say the least.

I waited a couple days before I decided to give the kit another try prior to writing my review (as I hate to give products low ratings). This time, I started with the DVD. The DVD was very helpful for me. The most important thing I learned was regarding the outer and inner anal sphincters. In a nutshell, every woman has both of these around her anus, less than a quarter inch apart. The outer sphincter may be consciously relaxed by voluntary muscle movement. However, the inner sphincter is more subconscious. If you attempt to try anal sex while stressed or anxious, this inner sphincter remains tight and causes the experience to be uncomfortable and painful. Basically, a woman has to be in the right emotional frame of mind in order to partake in enjoyable anal sex.

Armed with this new knowledge, I continued watching the DVD guide and just allowed myself to relax. The anal sex featured on the DVD really helped to get me in the mood. Then, after watching the use of the toys in the kit demonstrated, I gave them another try. As advised, I applied the lubricant much more liberally this time, moved much more slowly, and kept myself fully mentally relaxed. It paid off as I was able to enjoy using the items included in the kit far more. At the end of the day, I still think that these toys are limited though. The vibrator is on the weak side and I wish the entire kit was made of silicone as that would be far more comfortable.
