Sasha Grey signature plug large - butt plug by Doc Johnson - review by ScottA

The Sasha Grey Signature Large plug is a large, jet black glass butt plug. If you're ready for a glass plug that's over seven inches in circumference, then the Sasha Grey Signature Large might be the plug for you. The base is easy to hold, and combined with the stiff and slick glass material it makes for an easy-driving plug that's delightfully slick and very stimulating. The well-rounded body makes the Sasha Grey Signature plug comfortable during wear and as easy to remove as it is to insert.

During use the long neck allows the body of the plug to move around a bit for increased stimulation, and there's a bit of irregularity in the parts that contact the anus to provide for some gentle texture.

Made from dark black borosilicate glass, the Sasha Grey Large plug has the heft and smoothness of glass. The surface is rock hard and absolutely unyielding, and it is incredibly slick when lubricated. If you want you can heat or cool the Sasha Grey Signature for temperature play using a bowl of either hot or cold water (I like mine warmed). The top surface of my sample was smooth, with the neck and bottom of the body slightly textured in an irregular manner during manufacturing, although due to the manufacturing processes every plug will be slightly different.

The slight texture did add to the stimulation since it was noticeable when the plug moved, but it was subdued enough to not cause any problems during insertion, wear, or removal.

The color of the Sasha Grey plug is unusual among glass toys. Whereas most glass toys show off their material with bright or clear colors, the Sasha Grey line is an opaque, glossy "means business" black. There's no way you can see through this plug, but the surface dances with reflections making it much more interesting to look at than a matte surfaced plug.

The Sasha Grey Large builds on Doc Johnson's earlier Sexy Spades design, maintaining all the benefits of that design while offering a slightly different experience.

Like the Sexy Spades Large, the Sasha Grey Large sports a conical upper body that expands to a large 2-3/8" diameter before tapering off to the neck. The transition between the body bulge and the neck is well rounded, making this plug comfortable to wear and remove as well.

The neck is where the Sasha Grey Large is most different from the Sexy Spades Large. Whereas the Sexy Spades Large has a neck that's one and one quarter inch in diameter and about an inch long the Sasha Grey has a slightly narrower one-inch neck that's substantially longer, at one and three-quarters of an inch. This noticeably changes the feel of the plug in use - where the Sexy Spades tends to stick around in one spot, the Sasha Grey is much more of a mover, sliding in and out as you move.

In common with other large plugs, the Sasha Grey Signature Large is best reserved for advanced anal players. While I find it easy to put in for its size, its size is unabashedly large at seven and a quarter inches of circumference. Whatever you do don't try to grit your teeth and shove it in, instead opt for a smaller plug until you know you can insert the Sasha Grey Large without injury.

The Sasha Grey Signature Large is not the sort of toy that you can easily come up with an alternate explanation for, but its black coloration makes it more likely to be overlooked if it's stored in a dark corner. You're not going to fool an X-ray, though - they'll know you have a buttplug in your bag. Since it's nonmetallic you could possibly get away with wearing it through a metal detector, though.

The Sasha Grey Signature Large performs very well during use. It's a large plug by any definition, but the combination of the slick glass material and the squat body makes this plug a bit easier to insert, provided that you're ready for it. You do need to be ready for a large plug before trying the Sasha Grey Signature Large: indeed I wouldn't recommend it unless you are comfortable with toys of at least 1-3/4" diameter, and even then commit to going slow. The Sasha Grey Plug gets big, and it gets big fast, so make sure you're ready for it.

Once in place the Sasha Grey Signature feels great. It's a comfortable plug for most wear situations (although do test it out before wearing long-term, as the base on glass plugs can be irritating to the buttocks for some people in certain situations). The large body fills you up and stimulates the prostate in men, as well as ensuring a secure hold so you won't have any problems with it popping out. The long neck on the plug allows for movement, on my body permitting about a half an inch of in-and-out movement and plenty of wiggle room for enhanced stimulation. Finally, the slight irregularities in the neck and lower body provide textural stimulation as the toy moves. Note that the long neck means that this plug is best combined with loose clothes if you're going to be out in public.

Removal is easy and comfortable, just pull gently on the base until your anus relaxes and the plug pops out

For the most part the Sasha Grey Signature Large plug is as easy to take care of as other glass toys. It'll handle any lube you can throw at it (water, oil or silicone), and can be warmed or cooled in a bowl of water for use. It's made of strong, thermal-and-chemical-resistant borosilicate glass, so cleaning can be done with just about anything - toy cleaner, soap and water, dishwasher (I use soap and water for mine). After cleaning you can sanitize it if you want with some 10% bleach/water mixture or boil it for a few minutes for extra protection or to share between partners. Note that it's a good idea to not have large flat portions of glass toys resting on the pan bottom. When you're ready to put it away storage is easy. The Sasha Grey Signature doesn't react with any other materials, but it's a good idea to protect it from scratches as scratches can weaken glass toys. A toy pouch or sock can be used to protect it, or you can use the foam insert from the box until you get something better.

Really the only care headache posed by the Sasha Grey Signature is that bane of gloss-black surfaces everywhere: fingerprints. It's not a functional problem, and for the most part you aren't going to notice any fingerprints while you're using the plug, but when it's just sitting there the prints stand out as though they were made in florescent paint. That hasn't stopped me from using (and enjoying) the plug, though.

The Sasha Grey Signature Large plug comes nestled in a foam cradle packed in a cardboard box. In common with all the Doc Johnson products I have received there are no instructions included with the Sasha Grey Signature Large.

The front of the box has a picture of the plug on it, and the back of the box has a few vague bullet points about the toy. The sides are a bit less discreet, with pictures of Sasha Grey in lingerie.

The box is nice enough that you can use it as a gift box (provided that the recipient wouldn't mind getting something with pictures of a scantily-clad woman on it), and the foam cradle can be used in storage to protect the plug, though that probably isn't the best long-term solution.
