Icicles No. 37 - anal probe by Pipedream - review by puppylove

The Icicles No. 37, brought to use by Pipedream, is a fantastic multipurpose glass toy. While technically classified as an anal probe, and with a nice large flared base to prevent any embarrassing ER trips, it works well for vaginal stimulation too. The ring at the base of the toy works well for manipulating the toy during play, and helps retrieve it after use. As it is made from borosilicate glass, also known as Pyrex glass, it is perfectly body safe being non-porous, hypo-allergenic and phthalates free. It is also perfect for temperature play and 100% waterproof. Male or female, solo or with a partner, there are some many different possibilities with the No. 37.

Made from borosilicate glass which scores a perfect 10 on the Eden Fantasys' safety scale, the Icicles No. 37 is hypo-allergenic, latex free, non-porous, and phthalates free. Most people know borosilicate glass as Pyrex glass which is a brand name, it is made by adding boron to a mixture of sand, silicate and ground lime. The resulting product is a hard material with a high chemical resistance and mechanical strength. Whats good for Grandma's pie pans is also good for sex toys. The boron in the mixture reduces any stress caused to the glass due to temperature changes, making it an excellent choice for temperature play. You can warm it up with hot water or cool it down with cold water. The packaging suggest microwaving and placing in the freezer but both of those methods are somewhat extreme and could produce temperatures that could burn or freeze delicate tissues. The borosilicate glass is also shatter resistant, which is not to say that it is unbreakable, it will still break if dropped or abused, but instead of splintering into a million little glass shards it will break into big chunks. Glass is smooth and hard, there is no bend or give to the material at all, it is hard and can be unforgiving if thrusting too hard. Take care not to bruise delicate tissues during play.



The shaft of the Icicles No. 37 is covered in little bumps that add a delightful texture to the toy. The bumps can be felt during use whether you use the toy vaginally or anally. For some the texture might be too intense, if you are not a fan of texture I would stay away from the No. 37 but if you enjoy some texture on your toys, the No. 37 and its wonderful little bumps make a great additional to the toy box. Compared to some of my other glass toys that have had bumps as part of the texture, like the Nubby G or Pink Double G the bumps on the No. 37 are larger, stick out more, and can be more easily felt during use, they are a bit more intense than the other bumpy toys I have used. The bumps are the only texture on the No. 37, the rest of the toy is perfectly smooth.

Made from black glass, overall the No. 37 is 6.25 inches long with an insertable length of 4 inches. It starts out with a tapered tip on the head of the toy for easy insertion that is 4 inches in circumference at its widest point, that is 1.25 inches in diameter, the head is also about 2 inches long. After the head the No. 37 narrows to the bumpy shaft. The shaft is about 3.5 inches in circumference, give or take a few bumps. The shaft is 2 inches long with three rows of bumps along the shaft. After the shaft there is a flared base on the toy that is 2 inches in diameter that makes the toy safe for anal play. At the end of the toy there is a large clear glass ring for griping and manipulating the toy during use. The ring is very sturdy and thick, unless you drop this toy on a hard surface it is unlikely that the ring will break off of the toy. While the design toy is not realistic or phallic shaped, it still looks like a sex toy so I would not call it discreet. I do think that most glass pieces looks like pieces of art, and the No. 37 is no exception to that rule, it is a very beautiful piece, one of the more masculine glass pieces in my collection.

Anyone can use the No. 37, male or female. For females the No. 37 can be used either vaginally or anally depending on your preferences, for males the No. 37 can be used anally, as it is straight it may or may not work for P-spot stimulation. Vaginally I really enjoy this toy, the bumps are absolutely delightful. The shaft is too straight and short for me to get real good G-spot stimulation for the toy but I still really enjoy it. I find that the ring is good for rotating the No. 37 when inserted and really getting a lot of stimulation from the bumps on the shaft.

For anal use the No. 37 makes a better probe than plug, as the large flared base is too uncomfortable to wear out and about if that's your thing. But as a probe during play this could work fantastic for those who like heavily textured toys for anal play. Personally I am still somewhat new to the world of anal play and the No. 37 is just too textured for me to fully enjoy at this point. I imagine as I work up to it more I will really like this toy either vaginally or anally, but for now it is just too intense of a stimulation anally. I really enjoy it for vaginal use though.

Being glass the No. 37 has no electrical parts or batteries to worry about. You never have to worry about power or charge and it is 100% waterproof if you like to play in wet places. The only concern would be how slippery the glass can get when wet, as you would want to take care not to drop it on hard bath or shower tile to keep from breaking it.

Glass is very easy to clean and take care of, just don't drop it and you'll be good. To clean you can use warm water and anti-bacterial soap, toy wipes, boil, soak in a 10% bleach solution, or run through the dishwasher. As glass is non-porous with proper cleaning it can safely be shared between users. Glass is also compatible with any type of lube you wish to use whether that be water-based, silicone-based, or oil-based. For storage glass toys should be kept some where that will protect them from getting accidentally dropped or banging up against other hard toys or objects that might scratch or chip their surface. As the No. 37 did not come with a storage pouch to protect it during use, I ended up getting a Don Wands padded pouch in size medium that fits the No. 37 perfectly. I now rest assured that my toy is protected during storage, it is also good for travel if I decided to take the No. 37 along with me on a trip.

The Icicles No. 37 comes in a cardboard box with a flap on the front that you can see the toy through. Inside of the box the No. 37 is sitting in a foam cut-out. There is not an included storage pouch with the toy. The box that the toy comes in is covered in pictures of the toy and descriptions from the manufacture so it is not discreet in any way. The box is also somewhat bulky for keeping for storage. I prefer to store my No. 37 in a Don Wands bag between uses.

The No. 37 is very similar to another glass piece that I have, the Pink Rotator by SSA Glass. They are similar in size and design, but with different handles and different textures.




The head on the Pink Rotator is slightly larger in size and has the grooves in it that make it a juicer style dildo, also it has swirls on its shaft instead of bumps. The Pink Rotator has a handle at the base of the toy that can be cranked to rotate the toy, while the No. 37 has a ring base. Anyone who enjoys the Pink Rotator will surely enjoy the No. 37 as well, a new twist on an old favorite.
