Jellies - Yay!

The Doc Johnson Crystal Jellies Anal Trainer Kit is a fun and safe introduction to anal play. For butt beginners, these toys are comfy, non-threatening, easy to use, and really feel great. The jelly material has some special considerations, but these shouldn't be a deterrent if used properly.

Use

The Crystal Jellies Anal Trainer Kit is a set of two toys designed to be used for anal stimulation. There are two different sizes, small and large, hence the idea of a "trainer" kit. The thinking being that one would begin with the smaller toy and then work up to the larger toy. The end result being that the user would be acclimated to a larger toy, providing more stimulation to sensitive areas, or be able to accommodate a partner's cock or strap-on toy - you get the idea. This toy would be perfect for anyone being introduced to anal play. It is a good jumping off point, whether your goal is to experience anal excitement or be able to "take it like a man"! The toys are soft and squishy and not at all threatening to a beginner. They have a flared base to alleviate concerns about being "sucked up" and thus necessitating a very embarrassing trip to see an ER doctor. Not to mention having to cook up some lie about "sitting" on it. I suppose you could also use these vaginally or for oral play(?) if that idea gets you heated up. Primarily these are for your bottom.

Material / Texture

The material of the toy is Doc Johnson made PVC with the Sil-a-Gel additive. It is contains no phthalates and is latex, cadmium and Kryptonite free. The Eden Materials Guide rates this material a 5 on the safety scale. While not the worst stuff, this is a fairly porous material. The Sil-a-Gel component does give the toy antibacterial properties, however, making it far safer than other porous types of toys. This aids in limiting any transfer of bacteria from one user to another. Limiting is NOT eliminating, though, so common sense and good hygiene should trump here. If shared, this toy should be used with a condom. If it will be used by only one individual proper attention should be paid to thorough cleaning (more on that later). It is a very soft, stretchy, flexible material with quite a bit of give to it. The toy yields easily to moderate pressure. The texture of the Crystal Jellies is slightly tacky and the surface is very smooth. This tackiness does mean that they pick up lint and hair and such. There are a series of five ridges cast into each toy to increase the stimulation. There were a few small bubbles in the toy and some surface imperfections, but these were very small. The smell of these toys right out of the package is a little funky. It is an almost pool-toy/vinyl kinda smell. Not overpowering unless you stick your nose right on it and inhale deeply. Previous experience with this material has demonstrated that this smell quickly dissipates in a short time with some washings. This toy is made in the USA, by people just like you and me!

Design / Shape / Size

The shape of the Crystal Jellies is very close to the traditional plug shape. In general this means there is a narrower tip which gradually widens as you move down the shaft of the toy. Then there is a thinner neck which leads into a flared base. This flared base is what makes it safer to put in your butt! The Jellies are very much like this basic design - the top "ball" is the smallest; this gradually increases in width as you go down the shaft with the next three balls increasing in size. The fourth segment is more of a large oval than a sphere and leads through a thinner nick to a rectangular flared base. Both of the toys have exactly the same proportions, the only difference is that one is approximately 1/3 larger than the other. The Doc Johnson website lists the dimensions as follows:

Small: Total Length 4.36", Usable Length 3.79", Diameter 1.13"
Large: Total Length 5.7", Usable Length 4.9", Diameter 1.35"

See Link Here
My measurements of the toys agree very closely with those stated. The diameters given are for the largest diameter of the largest segment. The large toy's tip has a diameter of 7/8" and the small toy's small end has a friendly diameter of only 5/8", just about the size of a pinky finger.

The shape of the plug combined with the gently increasing diameter lends itself well to easy, comfortable, non-scary insertion. The larger one won't satisfy anyone who likes really big anal toys, but for a moderate user or as the next up from the smaller one, it is a good size.

Performance

These plugs worked just as advertised! The smaller of the two is a great beginner size and the larger one lends itself to more intense stimulation. Due to the nature of the material, insertion is easy and comfortable. There is very little to no chance of hurting oneself with these toys. They are just too yielding to cause any damage. They are firm enough to be easily inserted, and the ridges add lots of feel to the insertion. See the "Experience" section of the review for more details on the use and enjoyment of this toy. While not advertised as having any kind of suction cup base, due to the shape of the base of the toy it will gently adhere to a smooth, wet, surface.
    • Easy to use

Care and Maintenance

Care and maintenance of jelly material toys is a little demanding. This can be kind of a drawback as it is a bit of a hassle. They grab a lot of lint, so thorough washing before and after is a must. Condom use is a definite if sharing and regular condom use WILL make cleanup easier. Hot, soapy water or toy cleaner is best for jelly toys. Use both if you are concerned about getting these really clean. You cannot boil this material, or use radiation or microwaves or anything else kooky to sterilize these toys. In fact, these cannot be "sterilized" at all. Good thing that Sil-a-Gel additive is in there! The ad copy on the package warns not to attempt to warm these in a stove or microwave. Presumably, a campfire would be bad, also.

These can be stored in a lint free cloth or plastic bag. Small Ziploc bags work very well for this sort of toy material, one to a bag. Horror stories have been told regarding jelly attacking (!) the surface of other materials that they have been in contact with.

A great aspect about the Crystal Jellies plugs is that they are not fussy about what type of lube you use. Water based, silicone, saliva - whatever you choose will not be a problem with the toy. Just remember that if you do use a condom with the toy to make certain that your lube is compatible with the condom.

Packaging

The packaging of the Doc Johnson Crystal Jellies is large, bold and in your face. There is no discreetness here! They are packaged in a clear clamshell plastic case. This IS recyclable plastic, though. On the front, where you can plainly see the product, is the phrase "Anal Delight Trainer Kit". No mistaking this for anything but what it is! The rear (haha) of the pack has some more ad copy detailing the features, materials and warranty information in six different languages. This comes with a 30 day warranty covering defects in construction and materials.

The package is not very suitable for storage of the toys for long term. You could use it if you really wanted to, but it really is large for the toys - good for display, not storage.

There are no directions with the toy, but it is easy enough to figure out, right?

Experience

Okay, so this is the crux of this, or any, review - how well did the thing work. In this case, the answer is surprisingly well! Yes, it's made of jelly material (antibacterial notwithstanding), so it's a little smelly when new, and has issues regarding use and storage and cleaning, but this toy really felt good to use! I went with the larger of the two for my first try. The bulbs felt great going in - the largest knob was a bit of a shocker. I'm no anal neophyte (not a size queen, either though) and this toy worked well for me. My wife enjoys the smaller one. It's definitely more of a plug than a thrusting toy (for me, anyways). One thing I noticed is that is if you get too aggressive with the insertion in the heat of the moment, the base of the toy can easily pass through your sphincter into your butt(!). This did happen, but I was able to pull it back out. The base is smallish and very flexible, so be cautious not to go too far with it. Personally, I like the feel and texture of jelly material, so for me it is worth the inconveniences associated with it. Your mileage may vary.
Follow-up commentary
Despite the material, I still really like these anal toys. They are soft and squishy, yet can be easily inserted and give a sensation of fullness that I love. Do not fear the jelly - if treated correctly it can be a very rewarding material!

I'm going to pass on this because of the material, but thanks for the great review!

Great review. I like that you slipped in it was Kryptonite free. For some of us that's a real concern.
