The Ceramic Bubbles toy is an anal plug. It consists of two parts: the shaft, and the base. Along the shaft from the tip to about an inch from the base, there are three bubbles, or balls, that give this toy a great texture. They are all approximately an equal one-and-a-half inches in diameter. After the last bubble, the neck of the shaft is an even one inch wide down its entire one inch length. The base is perfectly sufficient to keep this baby from slipping all the way in, and it's a narrow rectangle, so the toy can be rotated in such a way as to not get in the way of vaginal penetration, should that sort of thing occur. My boyfriend and I haven't had a chance to try using this toy during intercourse, but that just means I'll have something to put in the follow-up!

Normally because of the smooth, slim nature of this toy, I would recommend that even beginners use it. However, the tip of the toy isn't tapered at all. It's, well, a ball, and that means it can be difficult to insert at times. Relax, take your time, use plenty of lubricant, and make sure you know your bum well. Therefore I would say that you should be at least a little experienced in anal play to use this toy, especially if you are using it on someone else. You can't feel what the toy is doing, only see it and hear your partner's response. Pay close attention and investigate any sign of discomfort immediately.

Whatever you do, DO NOT THRUST WITH THIS TOY. It may not be as intensely flared as some anal plugs are, but it is still an anal plug. As such its main purpose in life is to be inserted in the anus, and just sit there for a while. Thrusting may cause internal injuries. Please be careful with your bodies.

The Ceramic Bubbles Butt Plug, as the name implies, is made of ceramic. That's right. Fired clay. It's coated with a waterproof glaze, so you can use it in the shower. The ceramic material is one of the safest materials for toys out there, and it can be sterilized and shared after, and is great for temperature play. It's smooth and has almost no friction when lubricated, which is a plus in all anal toys, in my opinion. The firmness of glass and ceramic lend themselves to being tilted against the P-spot, and the bubble texture assists in that, as well.

The toy is not realistic in any sense. It doesn't look or feel like a penis, but I won't hold that against it. It's also odorless and tasteless. Actually, when I opened the box, the first thing I smelled was the extremely faint scent of rubber from the foam. That dissipated rather quickly.

I must say, I do love the design of the Ceramic Bubbles. It's beautiful, and functional to boot. The opening and closing of the anus, caused by the insertion of several bubbles one right after the other, stimulates nerve endings just past the opening that normally otherwise only get the rush of the first penetration. The base is narrow but long, extending past the neck of the toy by about three-quarters of an inch from side to side, but because it's rectangular, it nestles comfortably between your cheeks without a second thought.

Being slightly narrower than the average penis is actually a plus for this toy. I think if it were any thicker it would be suited only to advanced anal players. The first bubble could stand to taper a little bit for ease of insertion, but I'll get to that in a minute. The only thing I think would have made this toy better would be a slightly narrower neck.

This toy is in no way discreet, but with its classy pouch and small size, it's great for travel if you don't mind a funny look from the bag checker. I know I don't.

The best thing about this toy is the bubbles. That's a good thing, because that's sort of what it's named after. When you insert the toy, you can feel every one of the three "bloops" as they slip past your anus to rest comfortably inside you. It's a wonderful sensation that I imagine is shared by anal beads and other plugs similar to this one, like the Rombee.

Earlier I mentioned that I think the first bubble should be tapered. This is just my personal opinion. My boyfriend has a nice, tight ass, and while I love that about his body, this time it worked against us. The bluntness of the top bubble, combined with the slickness of the lube we used, made the first penetration difficult. However, after warming him up (a little longer than usual) and getting him relaxed, it finally slid in with a pop!, and we were ready to insert the last two.

Cleaning: Because of the hollow nature of poured ceramic items, I do not suggest boiling this toy to sterilize it. Does that mean it can't be sterilized? No! Of course it can be. Because the outer clear coat of glaze is non-porous, the toy can be cleaned with a 10% bleach solution, or washed in the dishwasher (top rack please!). If you do choose to wash it in the dishwasher, do not use any dishwasher soap because it is abrasive, and the temperature of the water will do the sterilizing for you. Also, don't let it go through the dry cycle. I can't say why because I don't know, but it's just a gut feeling I have. Lay it out on a towel to air dry. It won't take long. Conversely, you could just use hot water and some mild anti-bacterial soap, or even toy cleaner. I've never used toy cleaner because all my toys are able to be cleaned via boiling or bleach, but I am leery of residue getting in my special places. If your toy starts to look exceptionally dingy, you could probably use Windex, as long as you're quick about it and wash it off immediately.

Storage: Since this toy does come with its own pouch, I chose to store it in that. I'm not sure what the bag is made of, but it feels either like it's lightly padded, which I can't actually see, or the material is just thick and sturdy. On the outside it looks like the matte finish of smooth foam rubber, and there is a checkerboard pattern of fuzzy velvety stuff. It protects the toy very well, and even feels nice on the skin. You could also store it in the box it came in, since it was packed so nicely (see below).

Thus handled, your Ceramic Bubbles butt plug should last you a long time.

My Ceramic Bubbles came packed so well, I refused to throw the packaging away. For all anyone knows, a cell phone or mp3 player came in it. First is the box. It's a plain, glossy black paperboard two-piece box, with a bottom and a lid. It's about nine inches square and four inches high. Nondescript and perfectly discreet. Inside the box are three pieces of black packing foam. From bottom to top they are: 1) an inch and a half thick, cut to perfectly fit the bottom of the box 2) another inch and a half think, fits the box and has a rectangle cut from the middle to hold the plug 3) half an inch to cover everything and keep it all safe. Underneath the top layer of foam was the toy's very own personal travel bag. My only complaint is that the bag doesn't have a drawstring; it folds over. It's a sound idea (we do it with our sandwich baggies!), but for something as three-dimensional as a butt plug, it doesn't work as well as I'd like. But it's such an attractive bag, I use it anyway!

This is one of the most comfortable things I think I have ever put in my ass. I wore it for a good hour before deciding, holding it in was starting to bruise me (Remember how I said it kept trying to slip out?). Despite that fact, I hope my boyfriend will use it on me again. I'll just make sure that he takes it out after a bit. I gave it five stars because I couldn't give it four and a half, and I don't believe in rounding down when it comes to grades. If you're into vibrating toys, which I'm not, but my boyfriend is, it's quite fun to put a bullet up against the base of the toy and just hold it there as you play.

The day the Ceramic Bubbles arrived at our apartment, I wasn't there. I actually wouldn't arrive until a week later, because I live part-time with my boyfriend, but part-time with my parents. It's complicated. Anyway. When my boyfriend and I did finally get back to our apartment together, he immediately handed me the package to inspect. It wasn't damaged in the slightest, and we tore into it with fervor.
