Ringo - butt plug discontinued by Tantus - review by Research

Tantus has a great track record of producing well designed toys with extremely high quality and this time they did not disappoint. The Tantus Ringo is a classic-styled butt plug made of a single solid piece of soft silicone. At 5 inches long and 2 1/4 inches in diameter it is a very large plug, possibly larger than anything you have ever tried before. Don't let that deter you though, because of the silicone used in this toy the entire plug can compress and squish much more than any toy I have ever seen. This gives you more flexibility and more of a safety margin when trying to insert a larger toy such as this.

As with most Tantus toys, there is little texture on the Ringo. Except for a small rim around the base, this toy is completely smooth. This goes well with the extra soft silicone used and makes the whole toy seem like it's made of something a lot squishier than medical-grade silicone. The compression is very forgiving, had Ringo been made of a stiffer material not only would it be much more difficult to insert but it would be uncomfortable to hold inside your body and it would take much longer to warm up to body temperature.

While the size may be intimidating, the materials used and the subtle shape of this toy allow it to be used by people with no experience taking larger toys. Rather than going with the standard classic shape or trailer-hitch shape of other butt plugs, Ringo has a long taper to allow easy and controlled insertion. Once you reach the largest point, the plug will slip inside and will be held in place by the plug body and the flared base. When compared to other butt plugs you may notice the Ringo has an unusually long neck between the body and base. This is an excellent design feature that allows the toy to put pressure on the internal sphincter rather than the external one. By loosening both sphincters, anal play becomes more comfortable and enjoyable.

I feel that the silicone used, the shape and design of the toy, and the attention to detail by Tantus all combine to make this an excellently performing toy. I have used it a number of times both on its own and with other toys and I have not been disappointed yet. The silicone always warms up incredibly fast and feels comfortable, when inserted it gives an incredible full feeling, and because of the extra long neck, the Ringo often allows me to move up to an even larger toy when I am through since my internal sphincters have been loosened and relaxed. While this might be a bit too much to start out with, I think it is a great toy to have in your collection. It's fantastic by itself or as a warmup toy and is easily the best designed butt plug I have ever has the pleasure of using.

Like Tantus' other silicone toys, this one can be used with a variety of different lubes. Avoid silicone lubes completely, and if possible try to avoid oil based lubes as well. The jury is still out on the effects but I believe they can't be good for the toy. Since silicone is non-porous you don't need to worry about wee nasties getting into your toy, just clean it with soap and water when you finish and maybe give it a wipe with an antibacterial wipe. I keep mine loose in a toybox but from the amount of lint it has been accumulating I think it may be time to put it in a ziploc as well.
