The Max 5 is a very good prostate toy, better than the Rude family, but Nexus makes better.
This is a very good prostate toy. Well made from the finest quality materials. It works quite well. It is easy to care for, clean, sanitize and store. There are however a couple of other Nexus toys I like better.

Pros
It is a very good prostate toy
Cons
The soft texture of the silicone dampens the vibration
The Max 5 is a very good prostate toy, but there are better in the Nexus family. My personal favorites are the G Rider which has a strong multi-function vibrator, and the Excel (which has no vibrator). Never the less this is a good toy.
Although it looks like very much like the Rude Boy, or more precisely the larger Bad Boy, the shape is more refined. The insertable part is shaped exactly like the G-Rider and Nexus Excel. It fills the anus and presses directly against the prostate. The U shaped handle that pushes against the perineum is less wide and fits better - somewhat more tightly and does a much better job of staying in place. The little vibrating nubs that press into the perineum work very well.
This toy is great for individual play or with a partner. Let your partner control the button on the bullet vibe as they stroke your member or give you head.
My only disappointment with the toy is the silicone rubber in this toy seems to absorb the vibration from the bullet vibe, and dampens its impact. If the rubber were a bit stiffer it would do a better job of transmitting the full power of the vibe.
Like all Nexus products this toy is made from only highest quality body safe materials - the Max 5 is primarily medical grade silicone. It has a very good bullet vibrator that can be removed from the base. The toy looks intimidating but has a very appealing soft satin finish. I got my copy in black. This toy is by no means realistic but it is ergonomically designed to stimulate the prostate and "t'aint". It is a little big for the amateur, but because the silicone rubber is somewhat compressible it is not difficult to insert for a more experienced anal/prostate player. The satin texture is luxurious. Water based lube is recommended.
Although not an artistic or realistic design the ergonomic shape cannot be faulted. It fits well. The shape is excellent to really put pressure on the prostate, and the less wide curve of the U helps it really holds itself in place. Toys like this inevitably look somewhat Rube Goldbergish, but like his designs that is fine if it works. This toy and its shape do work.
I would have no trouble traveling with this toy, but then I think shocking TSA agents can be fun. You might want to put it in your checked luggage if you are traveling with business associates.
This toy is great to use for anal stimulation either when playing alone or with your partner. Because of the fit and shape it stays in much better than similar toys. However, it might work best if you are on the bottom if you use it during intercourse. It is a great toy when your partner is giving you head. They have control over the on off button on the bullet vibe.
The two weaknesses of this toy are that the silicone rubber of the body in part dampens some of the vibration. In addition, it is a simple on off bullet vibe. Pretty good intensity, but not nearly as powerful or controllable as the vibrator used in the Nexus G Rider.
The Max 5 is made of medical grade silicon that allows you to immerse the body of the toy to thoroughly clean and fully sterilize it. You can soak it hot soapy water, boil it or even wash it in your dishwasher. (Personally, not my choice for anal toys). To clean it my routine is to first remove the bullet vibrator. I next clean mine by washing it in the sink with antibacterial soap - Hibiclens a surgical scrub, and plenty of hot water. I also make sure to clean the inside of the cavity into which you slide the bullet vibe.
I clean the bullet vibe by rubbing on some hibiclens in a little water let it stay on for a few minutes. Then I wipe off the hibiclens with a paper towel dampened with rubbing alcohol (70% ethyl or isopropyl).
This toy works best with water based lube. Silicone lubes can stick to the surface of a silicone rubber toy. If you want to use silicone lube, just cover the insertable part in a condom and lube the condom (on the outside) with silicone based lube. I usually use a condom when playing with mine - it makes cleanup a lot easier.
The toy comes in a simple folded plastic box. Full instructions are included. The box is not suitable as a gift without wrapping paper or the like. The box also does not really work as a storage box either. I keep mine in a heavy duty zip lock bag after cleaning.
If I wasn't spoiled by the Nexus G Rider and the Excel, I would absolutely love this toy. It works very well, just not as well as those two toys. I got it to replace my Bad Boy, which just does not stay in place.
But a couple of other nexus toys are a little better (for me).
Follow-up commentaryI've started to like it more2 months after original review
I've grown to like this toy more over time. The insertable portion has the same shape as the Nexus Excel, but because it's made of silicone not hard plastic it is just a bit compressible. This makes it easy to clench while it is inside. It gives a very full feeling.
Overall, I still like the G-Rider better, but this is a pretty good toy.

Hmmm . . . We already have the Nexus G-Rider, so perhaps we'll pass. But it IS a very interesting-looking toy and definitely seems better shaped than the Rude Boy and Bad Boy.

I have been looking at the G-rider, but they're not in stock. This one looks interesting, but I'm looking for something that vibrates. Excellent review however. Thanks !
