The Bit is usually the first piece of tack bought by those interested in pursuing Pony Play. Bits help a pony get into character and submit to their trainers, bits also help trainers break in their new foals and allow an easier ability to control and dominate.

This Handcrafted leather bit gag is hand sewn after being rounded into a thin, cylindrical shape. Because of the flexibility of the leather, the 5" length gag will contour to the shape of the pony's face and extend past the mouth to the cheeks/cheekbones.

On the sides of the bit are two large o-rings that will rest against the cheeks which riding reins or leashes/leads can be equipped to. When using riding reins, proper fit is absolutely essential so please make sure the bit is secured, if too loose, it could slip from the pony's mouth and hurt either their mouth or neck. (It's also advised to equip reins to both sides as pulling the pony's head in just one direction could hurt them as well.)

The important thing when it comes to a bit is fit. If the bit is too loose it could slide around in the pony's mouth and have the potential of abrading their teeth and gums; this particular bit from Sinvention is equipped with seven precut holes which fit a neck/head circumference from 14 to 21 inches allowing a proper fit. While this bit has the ability to fit a majority of head sizes and combined with a soft leather structure that limits oral irritabilities, ponies and trainers should still be aware that this gag will cause drooling when worn for a prolonged period of time.

The Handcrafted leather bit gag is crafted with 10 oz. bridle leather which is thick and soft. The edges of the leather are finished as not to inflame the skin on the face or the neck, and the o-rings do not have any gaps to cause pinching of the cheeks. This gag also offers a 3/4" locking tongue buckle with a leather tuck loop; a lock is not provided with the gag however, a miniature padlock can easily be purchased at any hardware store. While the bit can be locked to provide for lengthy training sessions, it may be uncomfortable for your pony to wear it for an extended amount of time. If you've never given your pony a bit before they may be reluctant to try it and you should allow your pony time to adjust to it by having them wearing it for only a few moments at a time.

Overall, the Handcrafted leather bit gag from Sinvention is an attractive mouth gag. The leather is soft and thick, and the fact it can be locked creates a truly deviant piece of training tack. Ponies and their trainers will agree that this is a wonderful gag to either start with or advance to, and due to the quality, this will last through even the roughest training sessions.
