Kitty blindfold by Ruff doggie styles - review by Breas

The Kitty Blindfold by Ruff Doggie Styles arrived in a clear plastic bag. There were no text or photos on the bag. Attached to the blindfold was a cardboard tag with a photo of a model wearing the mask and stated the product name, company name, and company contact information. The packaging it came in isn’t ideal for storage. I keep my blindfolds on my nightstand.

I recently purchased this mask on sale even though it was on my wish list for a while. I fell in love with the look of the mask when I had first seen it, but the price was a bit steep for me. Also, I try to buy masks that can be used for both play and sleeping in. This mask just didn’t seem practical enough for sleeping in so I held off on the purchase.





The mask has a feminine look to it but can be worn by anyone. The thin elastic band that secures the mask to the wearer’s head is really stretchy so it really should fit just about everybody. I’ve taken a few measurements of the mask but if you need other measurements, let me know and I’ll get them for you.

Width of mask (from wispy point at top front of mask to other eye wisp): 10 ¾ inches
Length of eye area (taken down centre): 3 1/8 inches
Length of nose area (right between the eyes): 1 ¼ inches
Elastic band unstretched: 10 ½ inches
Elastic band stretched as much as I could: 25 inches

The front of the mask is pink and black in colour. The mask is made of leather and suede. It was a bit stiff when it arrived. The mask has suede backing with an elastic band (approximately 3/8 of an inch in length) to secure the mask to your head. All of the stitching is done nicely and it’s very well made.

The elastic band doesn’t start at the sides of the mask like the other masks I have. The elastic band starts approximately ¾ of an inch in from the sides of the mask. The distance between the elastic band areas is just less than 8 inches (this is the part that sits against your face).

The back of the mask is soft against the skin and I found it comfortable enough to wear. It’s definitely not comfortable enough to sleep in though. I also wouldn’t want to sleep in the mask because of the wispy parts of the mask. If you sleep on your side or change positions during the night, the mask wisps might poke against the pillow and move the mask on your face (waking you up).

This mask would be best for wearing during sensory play. The one issue with the mask is that I can see a bit of light when I look downwards while wearing it. Right around the nose area there is a bit of space so I can kind of peek out at what’s going on. Depending on where you wear the mask on your face and the size of your nose may make the gap larger or smaller. For me, it wasn’t a terrible amount of light but I still could see a bit.

Caring for the mask is a bit more difficult because of the suede. The leather can be wiped down if something gets on it but to clean suede, you need special suede cleaner. I would just recommend using the mask for play that doesn’t involve food or anything that could get messy.

Overall, I’m happy with the mask. I love the appearance of the blindfold and it is a one-size item that will actually fit most people. I’ve deducted one star from the rating because the blindfold doesn’t block out all of the light. I’d recommend the blindfold to those who are looking for an attractive mask to wear during play. If you were looking for a nice sleeping mask, I’d recommend the Silk Whisper.

This is another item I purchased just before it became discontinued. I'm very happy that I did. I don't get as much use out this blindfold as the others that I have but I still really enjoy it. It's feminine, attractive, and has held up well. It's still in excellent condition with no signs of wear.
