Fur slapper - paddle by Spartacus - review by Luscious Lily

The Fur 12" Slapper by Spartacus lives up to their reputation for high craftsmanship and attractive, pleasurable leather toys. On the one side is smooth, slick leather; on the other is a lush faux fur. Either side can be used for impact play. The leather side, depending on the power behind the blow, can deliver from a light but very stingy slap on up to a heavy, bruising bite. The furred side can be used to soothe reddened skin, or to deliver milder blows: it has no sting and the mildest of thuds, and is gentle enough for even the newest to impact play. A well-made paddle that will provide an array of sensations and stand up to years of use in experienced hands, it is also forgiving of the hands of the beginner.

The design of this paddle was well thought out and finely executed. Though the handle is only the thickness of the two pieces of leather, the lightly rounded edges do not bite into the hands. It is long enough to not crowd large hands, but isn't too thick for a small, delicate hand to use comfortably. At the back of the handle the paddle flares slightly, giving a back to prevent projectile paddles and ensuring a good, solid ring of leather around the tightly-set grommet. Through this grommet is a wrist strap of leather lace, which can also be used to hang the paddle for storage.

The leather is thick and very smooth, with a bit of spring in the handle to let it deliver a good sharp sting with minimal effort. Even after a long paddling, the leather feels cool against the skin. The stitching is tight and firm, with no evidence of loosening after a few vigorous uses. While noticeable to the touch, the lines of stitching do not become irritating for the spanker, or the spanked, even during long sessions. The fur is a deep, plush, soft faux that is firmly attached to its fabric base to prevent shedding. The same stitching that holds the paddle together fastens the fur down neatly on the sides and tip; a strong adhesive keeps the fur piece from moving or gaping.

The paddle arrives without any of the odd chemical smells sometimes surrounding inexpensive leather toys; the only smell on this paddle is good clean leather.

This paddle delivered a wide range of sensations, from the soft brush of the fur and the cold kiss of leather. When used fur side down, it lands a blow that is all thud. With enough force behind it, the firm leather behind the fur ensures a deep, hard impact without leaving a mark. When used leather side down, the paddle has a lot of sting. Light taps are all bark and little bite. They give a noisy, slap-like effect that, while not painful, can be startling if unexpected. Increased force doesn't make the slaps much louder, but they do greatly increase the sting. Very little force is needed to dish out all but the heaviest blows, making this a good paddle for long sessions. If you're feeling particularly devious, the paddle can be reversed mid-session to use the wrist strap used as a short single knotted lash. The effect is very different, though still very stingy.
