The fur slapper by Spartacus is another in a continuing line of affordable, fairly high-quality kinky products. It is a well-made leather toy, with clean, even stitching, and soft purple faux fur. Since purple and black are my trademark colors, I absolutely adore the variety of toys that Spartacus makes in this winning combination. They also have lovely white and blue lines, white and pink, black and red, and just plain black products (including this fur splapper, which comes in purple and black, as well as pure black). From cuffs to cock rings, ball gags to blindfolds, Spartacus is a great resource for anyone, from dabblers and newbies to the most veteran kinksters.

This item is intended to be used for a combination of impact play and sensation play. Impact play involves striking the body, while sensation play focuses more on tactile feelings such as soft or prickly. It performs perfectly at both ends of the spectrum, with wonderful, stingy slaps and gentle, soothing softness.

I love the design of this toy. At just 12" from end to end and 2" wide, it is compact, but packs a lovely little slap. I appreciate being able to just toss this toy in my bag and bring it with me to parties or playdates, as opposed to other impact play toys I own. A crop is just too long to fit easily into most of my bags. This slapper provides a similar sensation with a more diminutive and convenient size.

The toy is reinforced throughout with spring steel, giving it a mostly uniform flexibility throughout. The added layer of faux fur makes one end ever so slightly stiffer. It is not quite sturdy enough to be called a paddle, but it is a little bit more solid than most slappers. The fur itself is less fluffy than I had anticipated and looks as if it may have been cut to be a little shorter. It feels delightfully soft and silky.

The handle of the toy is about 1 1/4" wide and 3/8" thick. While it is nice to have a strap for use in hanging the item for storage, the strap on the fur slapper is just a little too long to be comfortably or effectively warn around the wrist when in use. It stretches almost the full length of the toy and can get in the way or simply be an annoyance during play. Making the strap half the length of the toy would avoid the problem. In fact, I may cut it and tie it off myself. It's an easy enough fix.

The handle is of a size that should be easy for most anyone to grip. It is small enough that it won't overwhelm smaller hands, while providing enough room for larger hands as well. The handle measures about 4 1/2 to 5" of grip-able space. It has a rounded end with a metal eyelet through which the strap is tied. The handle widens gradually towards the business end. The fur swatch is between 5 1/2 and 6" long. With the added layer of faux fur, the business end is approximately 1/2" thick. It is stitched on three sides and secured with glue. I suspect that the fourth side was not stitched so that the smooth, leather side would be uninterrupted by stitching. It seems to be very secure at this point, but time will tell if the glue will eventually wear down and come loose.

The fur slapper is exactly what I hoped it would be. I am a bottom who has recently discovered a hidden affinity for sadism and service topping. As such, I have both used this slapper on others and had it used on me.

On the receiving end...it is absolutely delicious. The smooth leather side provides a sharp, stinging impact, complete with the erotic familiarity of the resounding snap that one would expect from a good slapper. The fur side offers a much different sensation, with a muffled slapping sound and a thuddier feel. The fur side can also be used for gentle caresses in between vicious swats, which is one of my favorite things about it. The dichotomy of the warm, soft fur and the hot, stinging slaps...Mmmm.

On the giving end...as a beginner to topping, I found this toy very easy and enjoyable to use. It is straightforward in its uses and it requires just a little bit of hand-eye coordination in order to aim it and use it safely.

Warning. If you are going to engage in impact play, please be sure to educate yourself on the parts of the body that are safe, acceptable, and enjoyable to hit. As a general rule, avoid striking easily-damaged locations such as the spine or the lower back (where your kidneys are housed), as well as bony places such as the shoulder blades or the hips. Soft, fleshy parts are the best places to smack - thighs, buttocks, breasts, etc.

This toy can be stored amongst other items, in a drawer or box, or it can be hung by its strap. Caring for it is very simple. Just wipe it down with a damp cloth after use. You can use a leather conditioner now and then to keep the material soft and supple. If it comes into contact with bodily fluids, it can be gently hand-washed with mild soap and water. Be sure to allow it to dry fully before storing it and do not subject it to this treatment often, as it may eventually lead to increased wear and tear. Store out of direct sunlight in a cool, dry place.

I gave this slapper a high "Bee" rating. Depending on the amount of force used, it can create quite a loud slapping noise and even soft taps with the leather side are slightly audible from behind closed doors.
